It's an auspicious occasion! Lazarus the kitten made his first foray into the real world this morning! He's all of 6 weeks old and I've been risking life and limb to daily grab him from under the house (when he's outside on the ledge) and open his eyes with a wet cloth. He screams, he bites, he scratches. He's all claws and teeth. I could only grab him when his eyes were 'glued' shut.

So today, I get up to go out to the deck feeding table (the opposite side of the house in the back) and who should greet me, standing tall, and looking right up at me? Lazarus, the wonder kitten. Geez. I never expected to see him out in public. But there he was, standing on the deck, mom nearby watching. I figured she had introduced him to the deck in preparation for him feeding at the communal table. So I walked over, his eyes were wide open, and picked him up by the scruff of his neck. No screaming, no clawing, nothing. I set him on the table and another surprise, he wasn't interested in the food, but rather walked right over to the 'ramp' I had improvised with a fence slat so IF he ever made it, he could climb up to the table. Otherwise, he would have to be able to jump up some small step ladder steps and across to the table on his own.

So he looks at me, looks at the other cats eating, and walks right over to the ramp and carefully climbs DOWN. I'm amazed. He must have been practicing.

Lazarus the kitty is one of US! blackkitty

Fantastic Friday ya'll puppy

I'm just back from a very very hot walk and a very welcome cold shower. Now it's time to cook up some veggies as I'm starving!

Ana, sorry to hear about Peter's tooth. Eeek! Grats on 70,000!

Sorta, so glad Lazarus has made it to the outside world. thumbsup
