Does your computer meet the system requirements for this game? What video card do you have?

Here's a thread where someone had a similar problem
https://steamcommunity.com/app/374900/discussions/0/412446292757344641/

The main suggestion is to use a gamepad rather than a mouse.
(sounds like they built this game for console)

Also a suggestion to go back to a previous save using these instructions:

- Go to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Microids\The ABC Murders\Profils
- Now choose the folder corresponding at your save in game (0 is for the the top save, 1 is for the middle and 2 is for the bottom)
- Open the folder with the highest number
- Copy all the files Inside
- Come back in the previous folder
- Paste and replace all the files here.

If everything went good, you should now have a previous save as main save.
Start your game and give it a try!

System requirements are really low

An Nvidia 8400 or ATI HD 2400 (both from 2006) would have Shader Model 4.0.
Intel graphics would require at least GMA X3100 according to Wikipedia

The curser allowed me to move again, don't know how it happened, afraid it will happen again.I notice a lot of gamers had the same problem.I've already got stuck twice, and somehow it resolved itself, don't know how.Frustrating!

It sounds kind of like a memory issue.
The consoles the game was made for (XBox One and PS4) both have 8GB of memory. Since your computer was "upgraded" from XP, it probably has less than 4GB (unless you added memory). The game may be using cache on the hard drive when the RAM memory is full, and hard drive cache is MUCH slower than RAM.

Why this low-end-looking game should need so much memory is a mystery to me. Apparently it's not well optimized at all.

Usually the listed system requirements for the game work well enough.
However in this case they said 2GB was the minimum amount and the recommended amount was 3GB -- and you have 3GB.

Perhaps a bug is causing a memory leak.

I guess you'd have to find someone with similar specs as your computer who's played the game.
If the developers are wrong about the requirements, there's not much you can do.

How old is your computer?
If you have 64-bit Windows 7, would you be able to add memory to the computer or does it already have as much as the motherboard can use?

You might also check what version of video drivers you have, and whether there are better ones for this game.
