Good evening, GameBoomers!
I'm Jim, a 52-year-old federal employee from New Jersey who has a love-hate relationship with computer games and who is marrying the love of his life in 71 days. I like computing, reading, traveling, music, and eating out.
I joined GameBoomers in January, 2011 but never made any posts. Sorry about that. I'm surprised that I'm still a member and that my username and password still work. I have a love-hate relationship with computer games because: on the one hand, many of them are fun to play; and on the other hand, I'm terrible at them.
My current system is a three-year-old Lenovo laptop with 2 GB RAM and a 500 GB hard drive running Windows 8.1, but I may have a 2 TB external hard drive hooked up to it. Because Win 8.1 is a 64-bit operating system, I cannot run the older Windows and DOS CD-ROM games I've accumulated over the last 20 years and don't want to throw away. For example, I can run many IF games I've downloaded from IFDB and IF Archive, using Windows Frotz version 1.19, but not the Activision Infocom Fantasy Collection CD ROM, from 1995, which I purchased that year when I had my first computer, a Packard Bell with a 100MHZ(?) Pentium processor and a one-GB internal hard drive, one of the worst computers ever made.
I look forward to reconnecting and discussing some great games.
Jim

Thanks, Joe. It'll be the first marriage for both of us. You may have a love-hate relationship with computers and the internet, but I met her on Match after four years without a date. I dropped to one knee last June 19 and proposed; not being as young as I once was, after she said yes, I needed help up. This was my second post. Jim, who believes that ice cream sundaes have gender.

Ha Ha Geo! 5 billion and counting! Hi Jim! Glad you are finally back with the gang here at GB. Congrats on the upcoming marriage. Everyone should do it once, or twice or... I also have a ton of DOS and XP games that just don't want to work on 8.1 but I'm looking for a cheap computer at the thrift store, that I can load XP on JUST for gaming. No fancy anything, no internet. Dosbox does work pretty well. Try it. And if the new bride hasn't found gaming yet, you can introduce her to the fun. Always hints and helps and walkthroughs here at GB. If not for those, I'd have never gotten past my first game!
WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.

Good evening, Gameboomers!
Thank you all for the welcome back!
On Saturday, June 18, 2016 I joined GOG as Bookmusicfan5472. Do you mind if I brag a little? I took advantage of their summer sale to snag some of the greatest PC adventure games of all time for $20.89 USD:
The Zork Anthology including Zork 1-3, Beyond Zork, Zork Zero, and Planetfall. Beneath A Steel Sky, a free game. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (original and 20th Anniversary editions). Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within. The 11th Hour. Sam and Max Hit the Road. Syberia (1). The Labyrinth of Time. Under a Killing Moon. The Last Express. System Shock 2, gifted by another GOG member. Spelunky, from a summer quest. Torchlight, gifted by another GOG member. Battle of Empires, gifted by another GOG member.

Hello oldbroad,
Is there a newbroad in this forum? Just wondering.
I have the video card that came with my laptop, an Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Jim, who would much prefer money for nothing and chicks for free, but instead often gets bronchitis for nothing and coughs for free (Dire Straits Song Sickness).
