As a child my family’s menu consisted of two choices: Take it or leave it.

BUDDY HACKETT

I mentioned to my sons that some teens used Facebook to plan a robbery at a local mall.

“How did the NSA miss that?” my 21-year-old asked.

“I told you guys,” said my 17-year-old. “No one uses Facebook
anymore.”

Who wouldn’t be inspired
to hire this young man? If his
cover letter is to be believed, he’s
eager to light a fire under the most recalcitrant colleague:

“I am a
motivated, self-igniting person.”

It’s easy to get disoriented when visiting New York City. One
befuddled tourist asked his hotel concierge, “The last time we were
in NYC, we got out of a subway, and we saw some water and some boats. Do you know where that is?”

My daughter said something to me that I didn’t think was very polite. I told her she needed to say it again in a nicer way—so she repeated it with a British accent.

```````````````````````````````````````````````
I was showing my kids an old rotary phone when my nine-year-old asked, “How did you text on it?”
My 15-year-old daughter roared with laughter, until a thought occurred to her: “Wait, where did you store
your contacts?”
My grandmother called to tell me she’d gotten an e-mail account. “Great,” I said. “Send me a message so I’ll have your e-mail address.” I waited and waited, but she never sent it. Several days later, an envelope arrived—Grandma had written her info on a piece of paper and mailed it to me.
My nine-year-old and I passed
a store with a sign that read “Watch Batteries Installed—$5.”
He seemed confused: “Who would pay to watch batteries installed?”
When my husband’s friend gave his order at a fast-food restaurant, the cashier asked for his name.
“It’s Stephen, with a ph,” he said.
Soon after, he was handed his
order and a receipt, which had his name on it: Pheven.
Good morning everyboomie. welcome
I hope you're all doin great today. woot
Right now I've had it with my computer, and internet, hardwall
Everything is slow, slow , slow. I type a sentence, and then wait for it to appear on the page, before I type the next one.
I try and space down or scroll, and then WAIT. argh!!!
I don't think it's the computer at all. I think it's my internet signal. Maybe my modem.
Maybe it's the weather.
It's making me real cranky!! mad
Happy Monday everyone. thumbsup
Is that an oxymoron? snicker
Joe I've been there often and it's usually the Internet provider. I hope you can get it straightened Out.
Nan, thanks for the band! I still have another day of traveling to go!
Have a happy day all!
USA 4th Good Morning Joe, Ana venus and all. Joe do you have a wireless keyboard and/or mouse? That could also add to your internet problem if batteries are low. Ana be safe on the road. Venus sounds like a nice day planned. Coffee and tea are ready. Hubby and I continue to watch the Tour De France. France is so beautiful! Love the countryside villages, mountains, castles, and seaside! The Tour goes on for 3 weeks! We shall enjoy! Happy 4th to those celebrating! Wishing everyone a sunny day! 4th USA
Good morning everybody, and happy 4th to all. 4th
BTW the title refers to the 1st Monday in July, in case you were wondering. cool
My internet is operating a lot more smoothly this morning. I think the sun and heat affects my internet signal, just like it affects my brain. crazy
It doesn't look at all like a July 4th should look like here. It's very overcast. Don't know if we'll get rain or not. smirk
I have a lot of things I need to get done, and a severe case of 'I don't wanna do it.' razz
I really should be out mowing the lawn right now. It's cloudy and cool-ish. yes
I need to do laundry, clean my house, walk the dogs, buy groceries, walk myself.... lol
I guess it's a good thing I'm off for 4 days. wink
I hope everyone enjoys the holiday.
Magnificent Monday and Happy Independence Day puppy 4th
It was already 85 when I got up, so not going walking though I may bike later. I am planning to wash dogs today though, and that usually racks my back out so will probably wash them and then collapse.
I really want one of those standing tubs like groomers have. If I had room, I'd have one but really can't figure out where in the house it could go. Oh well! We need to add "dog groomer" to the " wish I had it" list along with house cleaner, gardner, personal chef, and laundress.
Joe, that is the same menu our family had. rotfl Sorry you are having the slows....soooooooooooooo aggravating. I have that same "I don't want to do it" syndrome here.
Ana, be safe. Have fun!
Venus,sounds like a lovely day.
Gerry, it's fun to see all that gorgeous scenery. I think that's one of the reason I love all the British mystery series.
Hope work is swift and pleasant, Midge.
Space, any plans?
Gail, cooking out today?
Nan, your day sounds lovely. Have fun!
Happy Forth of July! 4th
Very quiet around here. Everyone is on Holiday and probably getting drunk for tonight's festivities. I'm busy fighting ants outside. It's that time of year when they all have eggs and when I rinse the Peacock poop off my deck, the ants panic and carry those eggs up and out to everywhere. Then I play the meanie and spray every trail I see and that limits the population for awhile. I feel bad doing that, but it has to be done.
My ceiling fan is making a scratchy noise. I have no idea why. Maybe some stubborn dust inside. I may have to resort to extra means to cure it. Nobody likes a scratchy fan. It's a Casablanca, noiseless for all these 45 years. Only had 2 repairs in all that time and we did it ourselves. Now the awful sound. I'm going to fix that. Maybe if I read the manual? I never do that until everything else has been tried.
Outdoorsies are sleeping in. It's a sure sign of a hot, humid day. Fireworks tonight from my front porch. Looking forward to that.
Hope everyone's holiday is a great one!
