I'm back.

Started this game last night but am already stuck. I've been outside and inside through all the rooms to the study, then into the cave and the workshop. In my inventory I have: Dark Glass Vial with something inside it(?), Thomas's portrait that looks odd, crucible of molten gold, mallet, Darwin's tail, left & right legs, spring w/maser.

I don't know where to go or what to do. Outside on the fountain are symbols. Inside Darwin has a keyhole but none of my items fill it. I'm supposed to empty my gold but I don't know where. Mom's got nothing new to talk about.

Any hint?

Thanks.

This could prove to be tricky - I can only find video walkthroughs save for one website that has a written walkthrough that is incomplete (it covers the first chapter).

Having said that, if I am understanding the walkthrough correctly, what you do with the glass vial is something that happens outdoors and not indoors.

Isn't tricky your middle name? I will take my vial outdoors and see what happens Marian.

Thank you!

That was a really obscure clue I gave you and the walkthrough doesn't elaborate on it either. So, if this helps not at all, it's due to that - plus the fact that there may be something else you need to do first.

I can ask more specific questions as to what you have/haven't done - I was just trying to avoid spoilers.

This worked fine Marian. I will just have to make sure I try all items everywhere. I am now in a theater that burned in 1873. Most likely will be back for more help.

Thank you.

Actually, I'm stuck again. Still in the theater. Something with the cisterns and reservoir. I can't even explain it because I don't really know what I'm doing. I put coal in the cistern. I used my crowbar thing (my only inventory item) on the wheel. It seems to be doing something but it really isn't as far as I can tell. There's a water pump with something rusted and the gas is leaking.

I've been to the lobby and talked to the bobby and the charwoman. The office is locked and so are the controls for the skylights.

Is there anything you can do with this info? I should have made better notes but I guess I'm getting tired.

I just watched a portion of the video walkthrough. Have you exhausted all of the conversation options with the charwoman? Have you asked her about snow, and also talked to her about clearing the snow?

Hm. I thought I exhausted all conversation but I don't think we talked about snow. Will go back in soon and check it out.

Thanks Marian for looking. I hope you're not disliking it.

It's kind of different. It saves on exit though. I would rather be able to save at will.

There is no conversation tree about the snow. There must be something else I'm missing. I hope it is not with the Domed Machine that is backstage. I can barely get close to it. I have clicked on it and I have used the crowbar on it, however, the game background keeps moving and I can't really stay near it long enough to actually get a good look at it to see if there is anything else to it.

I will look around and see if I can come up with anything.

Meanwhile, I have found something worth noting - maybe it's too early for this, though:

Have you tried to use the risk atlas in the lobby?

No, I did not Marian, and that was the trigger for the snow conversation which I am off to have now.

Thank you again!!

Well Marian, I finished the game. I enjoyed playing it but I cannot say I understood it. Since the game saves on exit I could not go back in to replay the end so I watched the last part of the video walkthrough but that didn't help me understand it any better. I did get to hear some conversations I missed having though.

Thank you again for your help!

You're welcome, oldbroad. I was happy to gain some knowledge about the game, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. smile
