I can't figure out anything in this game. I can't equip a weapon or find any way to get anywhere. I want to leave the beach, but I can't find a way out. I have the manual, but I can't find out how to do anything. Help!

Until someone comes along who is familiar with the game, here is a list of controls, which includes the PC version.

Thanks, Marian.

Hope that helps, Barb. It's so frustrating not to have the controls be intuitive luck

Hi Barb smile

Are you playing the PC version ??

If so, the movement is standard WASD. ["Steering" with the right mouse button, I think.]

And for most "interactions" just use the left mouse button.

I'd have to install the manual again myself, to refresh my memory about some stuff but I think you select which weapon to equip via the Character Screen [C] and then during the game, draw it by using the middle mouse button.

At the opening of the game you should be able to freely explore a good stretch of the beach area.
Making frequent use of the Quick Save function at this early stage in case you meet a foe wink

Thanks, Marian. That should certainly help!Hi Mad! I was hoping to hear from you. I have the PC version & also I got the GOG version. Does it matter which one I use? I think I already changed the WWASD movement option so I could use the arrow keys, but I can't find anywhere to go. I assume I should be able to leave the beach area, but which way should I go? I still can't equip a weapon.

Thanks,
Barb

Barb, there is a good walkthrough on Gamepressure Guides

http://guides.gamepressure.com/risen/

I think you can equip a weapon from the inventory. In Risen 3, you selected a hand and then a weapon, but Risen may be different. You can assign a # key after you have equipped the weapon.

Hi Barb smile

I played the original disk version and later the GOG version and didn't have any problems with either. It was always a stable game for me.

When you first start the game you need to thoroughly search the beach and shoreline for useful items and survivors. And then also search and explore the more grassy area back from the beach.

There is a cave close to the beach area too.

After exploring all round, you'll eventually find a path that leads inland and away from the beach.

[I think your first encounter with a foe is when you go East along the shore but I'm sure you see it in plenty of time to avoid it until you've done a fairly good search for stuff.]

I don't understand why you can't draw your weapon. If you have equipped one via the C Screen you just click your middle mouse button (or use the scroll wheel) and it should then appear in your hand woozy

Cheers.

Mad grin

EDIT :
The guide HERE is a really good one if you fancy a bit of help.
[ But I see Pokey has already directed you there laugh ]
