9) “We look forward to analyzing and working with legislation that will make—it would hope—put a free press’s mind at ease that you’re not being denied information you shouldn’t see.”
—Washington, D.C., April 14, 2005

10) “Because the—all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There’s a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those—changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be—or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It’s kind of muddled. Look, there’s a series of things that cause the—like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate—the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those—if that growth is affected, it will help on the red.”—Explaining his plan to save Social Security, Tampa, Fla., Feb. 4, 2005

Dishonorable mentions:

“We’ve got a lot of rebuilding to do. First, we’re going to save lives and stabilize the situation. And then we’re going to help these communities rebuild. The good news is — and it’s hard for some to see it now — that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott’s house — he’s lost his entire house — there’s going to be a fantastic house. “In this job you’ve got a lot on your plate on a regular basis; you don’t have much time to sit around and wander, lonely, in the Oval Office, kind of asking different portraits, ‘How do you think my standing will be?’ “—Washington, D.C., March 16, 2005

Good morning everyboomie. welcome

What is on everyone's plate this fine morning, besides eggs or pancakes? smile

Not much on my plate. I'm on a diet. razz

Yesterday when I got up, Missy had left a few surprises for me, so before I went to my check-up I got to strip my bed, for the second time in three days, and wash the sheets. slapforehead

She seemed better though as far as her leg was concerned. bravo

My check-up went well. All my numbers looked good. I think they were 36-24-36. shocked

I think that stands for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol level. hamster

It's too darned bad one of those numbers don't stand for my age. Any of them. rolleyes

Have a great day everyone.

Thumping Good Thursday ya'll puppy

I've been busy in the kitchen! Son had a root canal yesterday that was super painful. I've been cooking up soft foods so he can eat before he has to take off for work.

Boys will be here til Sunday night, so I'm on duty. Not sure what we will do today but whatever it is, it won't be outside. Wish we could go to the park and run off some energy, but just opening the door to let the dogs in and out results in instant sweat coverage body-wide.

Joe, hope Missy stops leaving you surprises. And feels better.

Ana, how are the babies? How's your foot..did that ever heal?

Gerry, I'll take a cuppa of either. Thanks.

Connie, pass the bacon sandwiches please, and thanks.

Gail, have a wonderful day.

Niteowl, who is mowing?

L4L - maintenance was here before 8am !He mowed and weed whacked ,and started right outside my door rolleyes

he isn't scheduled to start until 9am. Usually everyone is up and about by that time. Not today ,though he may have been trying to beat the humidity.

Just glad I was already up and starting the day ,but I'm sure my neighbor wasn't ! (there are 4 small apartments in the building - 2 in front ,2 in back ,all ground floor ) Her and I have our bedroom windows facing the lawn - which is of course where he chose to start today for whatever reason.

Ah well ,at least he does a nice job with things.

Hope your humidity goes down a little - do you get much in the way of breezes ? That's all that's saving some around here ,as our air is normally pretty dry and hot. not so this week due to thunderstorms . it's actually nice out with the little bit of wind and cooler temps.

have a nice day all !

I finally got my power back up! We went down this morning and service just got restored. It's dark and very stormy here, and I'm thankful to have the AC back on to get the humidity out.

L4L, both my pups are doing well! They are just bored because they can't run until Shadow gets his stitches out next Thursday.
My ankle is what it is. It felt much better in Utah with no humidity, here it hurts all the time. It will never actually heal, the bone is too far apart to join together so he said soft tissue will eventually take over. duh I'm ready to move to Utah and get away from here! One of these days!
