Hi, I purchased a new ssd drive (1TB) and had it installed the other day. Then I found that my regular WD hdd was going bad and that was why my system kept crashing. So I ordered a new hdd. Now I'm wondering, which drive would be better used as my C drive. I had planned on using my ssd for games, but it's so speedy and such a pleasure after the old hdd. Would you use the hdd as your main drive (C) and the ssd drive for games, or the other way around? I have some RPG games I'd like to put on the ssd drive. What to do, what to do think

Hmmm, that's a dilemma. Either way seems both right and wrong.
Lets wait for more input.

Ok wink Also I'd like to get the weather channel for my pc. The sites that come up are all pushing their software and they won't let me download the weather channel. Or is there software similar that I might like that has a safe website?

I use www.weather.com. I type in my city and I choose 5-day forecast.

You might check this article

Quote:
backing up SSDs is even more important than it is with disks. The SSD is less likely to fail during its normal life, but more likely to lose data.

I've come to rather like the Weather App on my Window 8.1 and now my Windows 10. The app is in my taskbar and there is ZERO advertising with it. I've added about half a dozen other locations around the world in here in the US and I can monitor any of them if I want to.

If you have a 1 TB SSD, I would go with using that drive as your main drive - that's a lot of space! You can always use the HDD for storage of things like photos and documents. Once you have experienced the speed of an SSD, it's hard to go back to using a HDD as your main drive. If your SSD was a small one, I'd use it just for the operating system and a few apps you use a lot. But with 1 TB, go for it!

Draclvr do you have a link for that download? I've searched and I can only find downloads for other stuff.

If your SSD is a 1 terra then can't you use it for both your OS and games? Perhaps partition it.

What operating system are you using, SharonB? It's an app that comes installed on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 or is available in the Store for those operating systems.

No, I'm still on Windows 7. I'll just do as Geo suggests and go online for the weather. Thanks for your help.

Yes 1TB is pretty big. I'll probably put my big fish games on the hard drive and other things that don't need much speed. My head was starting to float dreaming of all this space and what I could do with it. taz I'm pretty sure I'll leave the ssd as my C drive.

Have you or anyone else try the App for PC or Mac from the Weather Network?

I tried it. Didn't care for it. Just wanted to be able to glance at the taskbar and find the temperature. What do you think of it?

After posting the link last night, I gave it a try, it installs a small Icon in your Taskbar with the Current temperature, you can also choose other City's to add to your Taskbar and when you click on it, you get a more Detailed weather report. So yes, I like it,it is Free and Safe.

I tried it again and you were right about the temp icon. It was just hidden before but I dragged it out. This is a good program and I will continue to use it. Thanks, Starcom. catrub

Your welcome SharonB,
I just hope we both continue to enjoy it, say after 10 days, sometimes one discovers it is not so great after using it for awhile.

Take care
Ray
