Is Peril in Pemberley any good?

If you want to get a feel for it, there is a YouTube walkthrough that starts here. Michael Gray, who does video walkthroughs for the Nancy Drew games, has also done video walkthroughs for the Miss Clue games.

Me either until a few minutes ago when I was looking for a You Tube walkthrough of the GK1 remake, and there was a trailer for Peril in Pemberley on PC which caught my attention. Did it look like a great game? No, it looked like a possibly good enough to play adventure game and not as flat as a casual. I googled and found that Arglefumph didn't hate it. That's about all I gathered from the few paragraphs he wrote. I did not watch his walkthrough.

The setting is Regency England, always tricky for developers because historical inaccuracies grate on the eyes and ears of Austen fans.

Miss Clue seems to be a HER clone or rip-off, which doesn't bother me a bit. I wish there more of them.

(GK1 remake: I am stuck in Jackson Square and getting more frustrated by the minute. That puzzle was way easier in the original, and for some reason the constant use of N'awlins, instead of New Or-yuns or New Or-lee-ans, really stands out in the new version. I guess I was tolerant of Tim Curry's campy drawl because he is such a delight in any role. I backed Pinkerton on Kickstarter for Moebius. Now I understand why the 20th Anniversary Edition of Sins of the Fathers did so poorly. Quite sad, actually.)

I miss Gabriel.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Me too.

Here's the website of the Gabriel from The Beast Within. Interesting that he wrote a mystery novel that you can buy on Amazon.

Thanks, Marian. I will check that out, too.

Feeling schattenjager verlust (edited to add, the words should likely be schattenjager saudade, not that I am certain) for Gabriel Knight, something that always happens after I play one no matter what I tell myself about what a jerk he can be, I have ordered Jane Jensen's mystery novel, Kingdom Come, the first of a series set in Amish country. Huffington Post gave it a good write-up in an interview with the author. The second in the series just came out.

Checking Facebook (something I rarely do), I learned Jensen is also working on a comic novel that sounds a bit like Beast Within played for laughs: dogs turn into humans while keeping some canine characteristics. I will buy it hot off the presses. I also noted on Jensen's page that Tim Curry included his two performances as Gabriel Knight as #6 in his 20 all time favorite movie, tv, and game roles, well above his deliciously slimy Richelieu in Three Musketeers and narrowly behind Rocky Horror at 2.

That's a lot of interesting info, 8dognight. Let us know what you think of Kingdom Come. smile

And yes, Gabriel can be a real jerk, but it's hard to shake him off, isn't it? I have found that to be the case, as well.
