The last time I played Gray Matter, I think I did so from an actual disk and the game ran flawlessly. At least I think I would remember if I encountered the issue that I am now experiencing because it is the kind of thing that makes me stop playing. I have no idea if this is something I am doing or trying to do so clumsily that I fail to trigger the proper mechanics or if the issue is a genuine glitch.

The pages of the magician's handbook rarely turn when I right click.

I managed to get through the student film puzzle which I remembered once I started. However, it must have taken 50 tries to get the pages of the handbook to turn more than once or twice and get to the right one.

I am playing Gray Matter from Steam on Windows 8.1 64 bit. The correct Direct X is installed or so Steam informed me. I could find no mention of the issue when I googled for glitches so I suspect I am the culprit.

Is uninstalling and reinstalling a good idea?

I don't think it's you. I found this thread on Steam. I don't know if there will be anything in that thread that will be of use to you, but it can't hurt to look through it.

There was also this issue, but if Steam is telling you that you have the correct version of DirectX, it's probably not that.

I had not seen the first thread you mentioned. Thanks.
