Hi all,

Some of you might have experienced this scam before, but I thought I'd report it. I just received a recording telephone message on my landline saying that Microsoft had disabled my computer license and that I needed to call a certain number to get it "renewed." This is a scam. I am now using the computer whose license allegedly was "disabled" and the recorded voice is the same voice that calls me now and again claiming she is an IRS agent and the police will come and get me if I don't call the same number.

So if you receive a call like this, it's a scam. Don't call the number. Don't give anyone any information.

Paul

Thanks, DocPaul. There are so many of these scams now, and I feel really badly for people who are taken in by them. I've received my fair share of these telephone scams, as well.

Best advice is to not answer calls from an unknown number. They will leave a message if it's real.

Thanks for the headsup Paul!

Finally a NEW scam. I'm so tired of the old ones. I can recite them word for word. I got one yesterday from a LIVE guy about my 'windows' alerting them to something wrong. Same foreign voice with a silly all American sounding name.

Then I got one while I was on my computer. The recorded voice was very scary and boomed that my computer was infected and was sending warnings to them and if I continued to use it something terrible would happen. Kinda scary for a second, but I giggled as I listened to all the stuff they wanted me to tell them. Geez! I must admit, this was one of the better ones, and the voice was like a real good announcer or news guy voice. Very authoritative. They are getting smarter and smarter.

Word to the wise: If you don't know who is calling or just are curious about who that was, don't fall to the temptation of calling back. Then they have your number and know they might have interested you. I'm so fed up with all the scams and especially the recorded voices that actually answer your questions. I finally talked to 'Amy' and said, I want to speak to a REAL person. Amy the recording replied, I am a real person, what makes you think I'm not? Gee, are they good or what. Fun to play with if you ask different things, but eventually 'Amy' got bored and hung up. Very funny.

WARNING! This person is extremely blonde...please type SLOWLY.
