I found it. I passed that hotspot by a dozen times, not realizing that there were 2 readable items on the one hotspot. Getting ready to move on to a new area. This is a really great game, I'm loving it.

If you are talking about the "puzzle paintings," they seem to be giving a lot of people trouble. Have you checked out the videos on YouTube? I see some advice about them on the Steam discussion forum as well. I also see that a patch was released to bypass what maybe are these puzzles, but since Steam automatically updates you would have this patch already - the patch talks about needing to input a code, though.

Good luck, and maybe someone will have a saved game for you. wave

I think there's a skip for those paintings. I didn't have a lot of trouble solving them, so I'm not sure that this will work, but I am sure that it worked for the painting in the next room, which is much harder than those two.

On the wall opposite one of the paintings are two sections of a bookcase separated by a space that will eventually open up as an entrance to the next room. In the left hand section of the bookcase you will see a big spider web. On the shelf above the spider web is a book that shows the two paintings as well as the painting in the next room. The book shows the years of the three paintings. It might be enough of a clue to see from the pictures in the book what the completed puzzle will look like, but if not, try entering the year into the counter at the bottom of the painting's frame. I didn't actually try these two, I don't even know for sure if those counters are active (I never tried them), but I did use this method to skip the one in the next room.

Report back if this works, as I'm interested to know for sure, having not tried it on these two paintings.

Hi Guys

Still cant complete the pictures, I have tried looking above the spiders web but it is not a hot spot in the game, also there are no date boxes below the picture in the game I am playing. I have checked on You Tube and there seems to be different formats of the game, one of the videos has the date boxes under the pictures but most of the other videos do not show these boxes (strange) anyone else come across this.

I get so far in the painting but still cant complete them, in fact I got to the stage of only 1 piece being out of place but as soon as I clicked on it I was back to square one.

Does anyone have a guide on how to complete these pictures as I am now at a stand still in the game

Any help gratefully recieved

Cheers

It's available on Steam, the Humble Store, and the developer's website. Check at the bottom of the page here.

I didn't ask "Where do you get the game?", I asked "Where did you get the game?". The question was directed at safc, who is having trouble with the painting puzzles. I asked the question because it appears from his latest comment that the version that he is playing is probably an older version before the painting puzzles skip feature was added to the game.

Hey,Uncle Reg: I got the game fairly recently (Last week) from Steam. Your description of the the dates, the book, and the hotspot are right on the money. Everything works as you describe. Thank you

I got of a UK based website a while back, cant remember the name though, just came across it while surfing the web.

I had a feeling that there might be 2 version of the game.

Cheers

safc; there surely are two versions of the game, but they aren't intended to be different. They are simply "Older" and "Newer." There have been two additions to the game. The second addition included the "Picture puzzles bypass [My label,; not theirs]" Both had been applied to my game when I bought it from Steam. You can go to the Steam website and at least read about the contents of these additions. I assume, but don't know, that these additions are available as patches from wherever you purchased your game.

I got mine from Humble on the game's site that Marian linked to, and there were (and still are) no patches listed, only one file for download, "TheEyesOfAra_1002_win.zip". You could reasonably infer from the "1002" in the filename that it already contained both patches, and I'm sure that it had the painting puzzle skip feature that I described earlier. So it appears that on Humble, if you had an earlier version, you would have to re-download the whole game.

Finally finished the game. I even went back and found all of the collectibles (with a little help), which opened up one last room that's not necessary to finish the game. This is one of the best games I've played in a long time. Many, many puzzles, some of which were on the difficult side, but all of them were fair, if you could find and decipher all of the clues. There's even clues to a puzzle hidden in the credits that you can go back and solve. If you like games with lots of puzzles, you should give this one a try.

Congrats on finishing the game Uncle Reg. Glad you enjoyed it so much. I had to use a lot of help in the 2nd half of the game. I never did get that ceiling puzzle in the cellar area which was an "extra" puzzle.

If you know where the start and the end is it's not too hard. There's a fixed tile that won't rotate on the wall to the left of the single computer, and the starting tile is just below that tile on the floor. The last tile in the string is on the wall to the left of the 3 computers, with the objective being to open the box that's on the floor below that last tile. Point that starting tile at the fixed tile next to the single computer and work your way around to the last tile and point it at the box on the floor. You have to point each tile at the next one in the string, and a lot of them can only be pointed at one other tile, so it's not too hard to follow the string around to the end.

Does every tile get used Uncle Reg? I tried it several times (not just now but before)and I can't keep track of which ones I've done and haven't done once I change views. I think there are some other items I was missing too. I pretty much gave up on it.

Yes, all of the tiles (the ones with the three pointed design on them) are used in the string. I think if you're careful and spin in the correct direction, it is possible to follow the string from start to finish without losing sight of it and having to change your view.
