frown. Hi everyone. I don't post often here in the Mixed Bag, I'm an occasional poster up in the Trading Post, Darkside, and Adventure games though. I know you guys don't know me very well, but I'm coming to ask for prayers anyway. My father was in the hospital for nearly a month with an infection in his heart valve, and now has been in a rehab center for about a week. He was supposed to be there for 6 weeks to have IV antibiotics, but today he has decided that he wants to refuse meds, and go home, which basically means he will die soon. : (

I know he's miserable living the way he is because he's always been so independent and busy, and I do sympathize with him. But I'm still grieving for my Mom who passed away in 2013, and the thought of losing him too is overwhelming. I'm giving it to God because it's way to much for me to handle right now, and so if you all would please pray for him as well as for me and our family, I would really appreciate it right now.

Thank-you so much,
Tracy

Aww Tracy, I know how that feels. Very helpless. Went through it with my dad and then my brother-in-law. Not much you can do but stand by them, comfort them, try to let them know that living is a good choice, remind them that family needs them. Prayers for you and him and the family.

Tracy,

Prayers are heading up for you and your father, hearts

Does the rehab center say he would be back to a good life if he completes the treatment? If it was me and the center said yes I would be tempted to show him this post and ask him if he would do the five weeks for me.

My heart breaks for you. God bless.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your family and your Dad. I hope this all works out for you. I too had to undergo 6 weeks of IV antibiotics in a nursing home. I really hated it, but I knew I'd get better and go home when my time was up. And eventually I did. And I kept getting better, so that is what I hope for you. That your dad gets better everyday.

(((All of you))),

Thank-you so much for all of your wonderful responses to my post. I wanted to do a separate reply to each of you, but I'm a bit tired from all of the ups and downs lately w/my Dad, and so I'm writing a quickie today. I want you guys to know that your prayers and good thoughts really mean a lot to me right now, and your open hearts really touched me. Thanks for letting me know that I am one of you (Kaki's sister)-that felt great to hear. And Sharon (about your own rehab stay) that helped so much. But all of your responses were so nice, and I want to send virtual hugs to each of you today. : )

btw-Things have been very up and down with my Dad's health and with what's happening. The day after I posted this, my Dad decided to keep doing the meds. ( I believe my stepmother talked him into it for me and my sister's sake) Unfortunately, he developed pneumonia, and had to go back in the hospital. He's still there now, and is pretty disheartened. On one hand, the heart infection is better, and the pneumonia is almost gone from what they can see, but he's been having problems with his kidneys, and so he can't go home unless that's taken care of. He has had problems with them for years, and his kidney doctor has kept on top of it , but with all of the meds, fluids around his heart, the infection, etc., now his kidneys are worse, and they are thinking about dialysis. : (

The poor soul was talking yesterday about wanting to come home and just not do anything for his kidneys-once again to let things take their course. And I trying to just let go and let God at this point. I have said to him when we were alone that as much as I want to keep him around, I know that he's miserable and if he does decide to not continue any treatment, then I would understand. (It would break my heart, but I would understand) so I don't know what's going to happen in the future.

It's so hard to love him so much and to see him this way-he's like an elderly child in some ways, and I wish so much that I could wave a magic wand and make him healthy and strong again. : (

Anyway, I appreciate you all listening and keeping him and I in your prayers right now. It means so much to me. : )

Hugs to all and I hope you guys are all doing well,
Tracy

Aw, Tracy, it's so hard when we, the children, become the parents to our parents. I know all too well what you are going through. Been there, done that. Hang in there and be assured that you are doing the right things. Support, encourage, support, love, support. You get it. You are already doing all the right stuff. Just take care of yourself too! I got so depressed when my parents were at that stage in life that I forgot to eat, sleep, etc. Running from job to hospital, nursing home, and their ampty home to keep it going, etc. I almost fainted one day in the nursing home elevator. Was very embarrassing, but it was a wake up call for me.

I love that you are so caring of your dad. Keep doing what you are already doing. Sending prayers and strength to you!

Tracy, I have a feeling that if I say what I want to, it will not come out right so I will just leave it that I am praying for strength for both of you and that I hope that your dad can make the right decision for himself once he can gather all the info. hearts
