Although I'm loving the game, I'd forgotten how much I loathe the navigation system! I think I've gotten spoiled by the ability to explore all my surroundings!
Anyway, I am behind the gas station and have added quite a number of things to my inventory and explored everything there is to explore - at least that I can find. However, I need to go back to the front of the gas station so I can listen to the broadcast as I believe that is where my clue is for the laptop password. But after almost 2 hours of clicking, I can find no way to get back out to the front.
Am I missing something?

Hi Tomato Lady
If you are talking about back to the beginning where you left your car with the radio on, This part also gave me trouble and some times it still does. If you can make it back to the transmission tower in the screen where you are facing it with the fence around it, turn left, there you will see the red telephone booth, walk towards that.

Yes the navigation is confusing, and so are the bugs...anyway you climbed a barrier to get there, funny enough you can't climb the same way back, you have to go through the woods, passing the bicycle heap by the qoyt. Hope this helps

dianne, it's the car in the garage. Look for some buttons on the wall on the other side of the car to lift it up. Good luck. Chief

Other than picking up the screwdriver to fix the power, I'm stuck at the tool bench in the garage. All I can pick up is what looks like a pin of some sort, but it won't do anything. A little nudge, please!!

Hi Tamia, the order for the video is as follows: 1. Burning leaflet 2. Bike wheel 3. Spray can symbol 4. Posting leaflet 5. Knocking on door 6. Mia-drawing pentagon 7. Open book 8. Mia-looking possessed. Hope this helps.

I just did this last night and took very simple note so I just have one or two words for each sim: burn leftlet, bike wheel, spary can, post, knock on door, draw, opening the book, girl going crazy. You can look at each of them before you put them in the right order. The 9th one will install by itself, but I do not remember if I clicked on one of the tabs on the left so this can happen. Good luck. Chief EDIT: two responses at the same time. Thanks Upsydaisy.

I'm finding an odd thing with the video clips. If I click on them or try to move to the laptop, there is no interaction like there is with the rest of the inventory items. But when I click on the laptop, they disappear from the inventory and appear on the laptop. Kind of strange... I have 6 of them so far. Got the glasses and did the oak tree puzzle and now I'm stuck for anything to do again! I'm sure I'll be back pleading for help.

Drac, when you have a SIM card, you only need to click on "Capture clips" on the laptop on the left when you are in the page to make the movie and it will be added with the others at the bottom. Hope this helps. If anyone can tell me where to find Gus MP3, you will make my day. Chief

Hi Dianne-the fishing rod is for the stump puzzle look in the book above the laptop, and make twig shapes using the guide, will make only 4 the iron (horseshoe) is proving a problem. I have completed all puzzles except collecting personal items to go on the stones. Even the walkthroughs on Youtube stop here. Will leave for a few days to see if anyone else has a solution or there is an patch. Edit: I have just read on Steam that Matt from Shadow Tors is working on a big update going from the preview release (which we have all been playing) to Version V1.01-not sure if this means starting a new game as Matt says events will happen at different times. Thanks Matt for your hard work and dedication

People on Steam are saying that they have fished in the pool,--I assume with the magnet fishing rod. I have cleaned off the sign, and seen the picture, but I am not getting a use tool icon at the pool.Is this a glitch, or am I missing something ?
Never mind, just read chief's post about where to find the fishing rod. Does anyone have a surefire way to get to the farmhouse? That's the place giving me the most trouble

Stay tuned... The Dark Path – Larger update coming. Rather than continue smaller rolling updates, the decision was made to work on a bigger update to take the game from the revising v1 preview release to version 1.01 in a larger step. V1.01 will be addressing issues that some gamers have faced, and is shifting content around for a better game play experience. Events in act 3 will occur sooner in act 2; some events in act 2 are scattered into act 1. Many gamer requested addins, short cuts, improved interactios, along with technical, graphical and audio updates are included. Right now, I am testing to get as much of the update applied to those already playing, as those who are starting a new game will encounter by default. The update will be with you shortly.
Many Thanks, Matt

Doreen, here is a way to get to the farm: from looking at the cave (Quoit) and the bikes, turn right. Forward 2x. At the 2 signs, turn right and forward 1x. Then forward on the path you see in front. At the step, turn left and forward and then follow the yellow cable down to the tractor. Go right at the tractor and follow the yellow cable again. (Maybe a player can come up with an easier way to get there.) As for the fishing rod, you will pick up a real one. I do not remember where, maybe at the farm???? Good luck. Chief

Doreen and Drac, you need to finish that film with the SIMS card on the laptop. Chief EDIT: Doreen, the fishing rod is in the winnebago in the moor where the radio station is. You can get there when you complete the map at the farm.

Are you talking about a different MP3 from the one in the fusebox on the radio tower? Anyway, that's where I found one. I still don't know what to do with it though.

Thanks, 8dognight. It is the one in the fuse box. Now I remember. It's not in my Inventory nor the tool to open the fusebox. One problem to be settle. The MP3, the wooden effigies, Olly's glasses, Mia's school ID and comb will be useful at the wish circle (if this is the proper name for it) in the woods. Have fun with your game. Chief

2 things---did the new patch automatically install in the game or do I have to download it manually? Also, I think I am going to have to restart the game, as the candle puzzle in the café is doing nothing. I try to pick up the matches--no go, and then I try just clicking on the candles and nothing happens. Without having done this puzzle, I will be unable to enter the farmhouse. I have played over nine hours of this game and really do not want to have to start over.

Finally got mine too... not sure if I'll start over or not. Might be sure I've got everything first. And I LIKE the sound effects now! I didn't have any before. But I also wouldn't mind starting over if I have to... just an excellent game.

I had that problem with the candle puzzle too, dorish. But the next time I started the game, it worked. But I've finished the movie and I still can't get into the farmhouse. Need to go back and see what I've missed.

I have just uninstalled the game and am reinstalling it in the hope that I can get past that candle glitch. I tried to do it several times and the game froze so I had to reboot my computer--I now have a MAJOR headache --no doubt caused by stress LOL ! I want to delete all my save games. Can anyone tell me where they are ?

Big sigh of relief and October Fool on me. Just remember Chris Jones has made several so there are precedents from distinguished developers. My only disappointment thus far with Barrow Hill: The Dark Path is that I suspect Winser will not be wagging way his back from the dead to lick Emily's face unless as prelude to biting face. Winser's disappearance was the only thing I didn't like about the original Barrow Hill. I know that if a dog makes an appearance in a horror movie, there is a genre based obligation to kill the dog--rather like the foreshadowing convention of using in the third act a gun that was lying around in the first--so I was expecting the trope even while cringing. I intend to pretend the sly effigy pattern is for Winser.

I have all 8 of the video clips plus one undiscovered one that showed up when I clicked on Make Movie. I left it as the last one, so maybe that's the problem. But I still can't get into the farmhouse!

Doreen, if you have Win 10, look in local disc (C:), User, X (or possibly another name), registered games, The Dark Path: open this link. I'm not sure if you need access to all your foulders to do this. Drac, I restarted the game and I can't get into the farmhouse and I have done many more things and still can't get in there. And I'm mad. But it is still a good game. Chief

I just saw a post at Steam that says there is now another step to get into the farmhouse with the update. I wish I could figure out what it is! I'm trying to save Ollie. I'm in the room next to the garage and I have the two-letter four-digit code. But the phone won't accept the code. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Drac, did you also enter 475 when asked by the man on the phone? I now know how to get in the farmhouse: go there and follow back the yellow wire on the ground. When you reach a post with 2 walking people and a picnic table on it and an arrow, just look on the left of that to find a beacon machine. Work with it to find a live feed for the camera video in the farm. See if this works. I'm not sure if you have to work the wishing stone of Ollie and Gus with their proper items before the access to the Farm. Chief

The guy on the phone never asks me anything. I assume I press the 2 twice to get B and the 4 twice to get H?
I'll look for that beacon!

Draclvr, you have to press only 1 time for B and 1 time for H, then the four numbers! After that, the guy will ask you the error code. I'm stuck at the Wishing Circle. After the last update, I've found there object that I haven't put I add everything on those damned stones but nothing seems to work. Those poor guys are still under spell At least I freed Emma!! I put her objects on the left stones - when you do it right they begun to shine - and she isn't in the camper van anymore!

Here again, sorry! A new weird thing happened! In my inventory I have some new objects I hadn't before, including a red cup (I LOVE BHR)- but it's blocked and I cannot use it, even if know WHERE to do it! Is it happening to someone else? Those PAID(???) Beta Tester surely didn't do a good work! Mr Clark, next time I volunteer as a Beta Tester FOR FREE

I seen some discussion on this topic but not sure what to do. Been playing a while & loving it so far. At the candle puzzle & the game locked up. Is there a update or patch or are we still waiting for it? I didn't see any updates or patches. THANKS!! In playiong the latest update last night, I found the candle puzzle locked the first time I tried it. I reloaded the game, went off and did some other game tasks and puzzles then went back to the candle puzzle. This time it worked and did not lock. I was able to get what I need there and move out of the puzzle screen. Hope this helps.

Help! I am in the newest upgrade, the 1.01, and still can't get past the witch or see anything happen after I get all the clips from SIM cards in order and compile and play the vid. . I understand that the phone is supposed to right about now. I don't know how to hide spoilers here so will not say anymore till I find out what to move the game but I think I have most or all of the items I can get in the woods and station and Quoit. I restarted the game after the upgrade, btw. And like it a lot, problems or not.

Chief Chief, I got the "feed found" message on the transmitter/beacon machine, but I have only seen Gus when he peeked though the fence at enchanted Ollie. I think I have to find Gus and free him but I can't find him again. Any ideas on what I might have missed? I did get Ollie freed. Thanks.

OH, NO! I've run into the "mug bug." I've made the drink, but can't use it. I even tried a suggestion on the Steam forums to make the drink before I did the pentagram puzzle. Didn't work. Wahhhhhh...

Oh, blast, I just made a drink in the mug, so I hope I have made the wrong drink combo.
My question concerns Harker's map in the trunk of the old car. On that map is "old barn." Am I looking for that in vain?
Never mind, I finished. I made the soup first, then the drink, which the game was finicky about.
I'm sorry Barrow Hill: The Dark Path is over. I enjoyed all of it except the video puzzle because the flickering images bothered my eyes.
Oh, and I tried making an effigy for Wincey. Can't be done, not even sideways or upside down.
Why, I wonder, were the packets of ingredients called Purine Balance? Weird name. As I have gout, I treasure the idea of purine balance, still Purine Balance is a peculiar name.

Yes, you are. I would have loved to have that old barn to explore, but alas we won't be in this game.
If you got the right drink, it will turn purple and get sparkly. I made the right combination, but it won't come out of inventory.

Hi everyone. Just started playing the game and love seeing the old scenery and hearing Emma Harry on the radio again. I was just wondering after reading some member's posts, if there is an update to the main game that I may need to install? Just want to make sure I have it before I get too far in the game so I don't get stuck somewhere down the line. Thanks everyone, Tracy

I do hope so seagul. Started new games three times. Uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted games and still getting stuck on that blasted mug!! Are we the mugs do you think? Edit: Have been playing for a while now, all seems OK, events happening when they should, few extras. I feel confident that I will be able to finish. Apart from the bugs have been enjoying this game, I may even go back and replay the first Barrow Hill.

Well, my hopes have been dashed. I seem to have run into yet another game ending bug. Got all the move clips and have them compiled in the correct order. Set the transmitter according to Gus' instructions and got the "signal live" message. But the "extra" movie clip will not appear. So I went back to check the transmitter - sure enough it had an error message... but I was unable to click on anything to change the settings back. Loaded the game again and this time I could reset the transmitter. Backed out of the screen and went back in - yup, the error message was back.
I am unable to proceed once again. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you compile the movie? I just finished the game and have enjoyed it very much. I did not have all the problem glitches that others had except for one.

I can't complete the movie because no matter what I do, the "extra" clip will not show up. I have the 8 SD cards in the correct order, but when I click on Make Movie, the extra clip does not show up. And of course, without it, "you know who" is still in the farmhouse.
My enjoyment which was great, is slowly ebbing right now... This is two game killing bugs for me. Don't know if I can force myself to start yet another new game.

Are you sure you have them in the right order? At Steam someone posted a wrong order. 6 and 7 are wrong. This is right: 1.burning leaftlet 2.bike wheel 3.spraying symbol 4.posting leaflet 5.knocking on door 6.mia drawing magic circle 7.opening book 8.mia sitting in circle looking possessed

I know - I've clicked on it a dozen times! No, I made sure I have the right order just like you have. I'm going to try opening the game up again and PRAYING the movie works this time! Still don't know what to do about the transmitter settings that just won't hold though.

I had thought I had the right order and clicked to compile the movie multiple time but it turned out I had one clip in the wrong place. The one that Seagull posted above ended up the correct one for me. I had the 6th and 7th mixed up.

Drac is doing the happy dance... once I reloaded the game and went to the laptop and clicked on Make Movie, it worked!! I didn't change the order of the clips at all as I already had them in Seagull's order.
And it appears that the transmitter not holding the settings doesn't matter... I was able to finish the game. When I've had some time away from the frustrations of the bugs, I will probably go back and play it again. It's really quite an excellent game - so very unfortunate it was plagued by so many problems. Hopefully they are all sorted out now.

You have no idea how happy for me I was too! I was just ITCHING to finish this game! It's one I would have loved to linger in and draw out as long as possible because it is such a good one, but the bugs were just too aggravating. Now I wish I would have waited to get the game until after they were all worked out. Ah, well! Just glad to have a really good adventure game to play!

There was a new update. Now i have Version V1.02. I hope everybodys problems are solved now. I love this game and it is frustrating to see how the bugs destroy the pleasure to play it for some people. I just logged on to the steame and the game and got a tiny update. So far, I can't even find the mug so haven't encountered the dread mug bug I just hope it is back in the BHR Winnebago and I overlooked it when I saw Emma Can't think of where else to look, yet.
We'll outgrow the walk-throughs, yeah, we really will.

The mug can only be found after Emma is saved from the transformation. Hope you could sove the problem with the crushing computer.

Well, played through after starting new games 4 times, uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting saved games and having latest updates and JOY no problems or bugs anywhere. (few niggles like being able to use the crystal at two other locations-finding nothing and slight audio garbling with last two mobile phone calls.) to the developers for not throwing in the towel!!

It took me two restarts and I don't think I could have taken a third one, let alone a fourth! I also marvel at your patience!

I am stuck in the area where a fire is in the rusted barrel. I have been in the cave where the laptop is, and the dilapidated building, by the stone pile and everywhere around it. Not sure how I got here and can't figure out how to leave. I keep going around in circles trying to get out of there I can't go up or down only to the side and then I am right back where I was. How do I get back to the gas station or anywhere but here? Thanks!

I assume you have picked up all the items you can get in the Quoit and the room to the left of the garage and a couple of other places.
I had a hard time with the navigation too, but finally got it figured out. There is a specific item you need to pick up before you can go into the woods. Assuming you have that item, go to the stone pile (after you dismantle it) and turn left. Then turn right and go into the woods two times. Go right and when you get to the transmission tower, go left. From there you will go down the path to the phone booth and the information kiosk and the road.

Draclvr,
I went to the stone piles and turned left, then right but ended up back at the stone piles. I just keep going in a circle. Maybe I still need to pick up an item? If so, what is it? I think I was in the Quoit. Is that where the laptop is?
Update: I finally was able to pick up the torch and went into the woods. But I still can't get back to the gas station. I am in trouble because non-linear games are difficult for me ;(

That's great, jimrh69! I'm sure lots of people will be glad to have it.
gatsbygirl, the only thing I can say is you will need to figure out how to navigate the woods as you have numerous places you will need to go to more than once. Try to look for something to help you remember where you are. There are some signs and other things that are helpful. There is even a certain tree that helped me know where I was.

Well, I finally finished the game, and, despite all the bugs etc, it was GREAT.

Thanks Draclvr. I have had a very busy few days with work and am just now trying to get back to the game. I am terrible with non-linear games but I will take your advice and try to figure out landmarks.
