Watching clips about who's worthy to lift Thor's hammer I started thinking about the 50th anniversary Doctor Who special and why The Moment, a Time Lord invented sentient weapon considered the Doctor worthy to use it. I think it choose the Doctor because it knew if given the chance to avoid it the Doctor would not actually use it to destroy Gallifrey and the Dalek fleet. So it manipulated the Doctor into not doing what he didn't want to do anyway, by allowing the War Doctor to meet two of his future selves, who believed he had in fact used The Moment to destroy Gallifrey. When actually hadn't because the Moment's bringing them together allowed them to develop an alternative. When the three Doctor's were leaving each other the War Doctor realized because of the bringing three versions of himself out of their time streams he and Doctor 10 (and therefore 9 also) wouldn't remember they actually didn't destroy Gallifrey. Only Matt Smith's Doctor would remember he saved Gallifrey and thus all Doctor's after him would too. So The Moment found the Doctor worthy to use it to destroy the Time Lords and the Daleks to end the Time War, because it knew the Doctor wouldn't actually do so. After all it was created by the ancient Time Lords to defend Gallifrey, not destroy it, so it did.
I thought of all this watching video clips on Thor's hammer because one of the clips said that's the explanation as to what determines who is worthy is that the hammer is actually alive and it chooses who is worthy at any given time. Thus Thor and Vision can lift it because it allows them too, but so far no one else in the films can. Most people assume that in a future film the hammer will find Steve Rogers worthy and he will lift it too. Apparently in the comics Captain America does lift it, so does the Hulk. And at some point there is even a female Thor.

One thing, we don't know what happened to The Moment after the Doctors didn't use it.
I think it would be fun to see what would happen to the Daleks if they got hold of it and tried to use it. I suspect New Skaro would be vaporized instead of whatever target they were after.

Doctor Who Christmas Special Sneakpeak - oddly after the Doctor Who stuff this video ends with a sneak peak for a different series "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" based on the late Douglas Adam's book. What's the connection to Doctor Who? Adams was script editor and writer during Tom Baker era. I loved the space pirate captain.

OK, I'm too lazy to search for this, but did you mention anything about a 'spin-off' of Dr. Who called CLASS? My friend just brought up episodes 1 and 2 from the BBC and they were so fun. Peter Capaldi appeared in the premier with the Tardis. I don't think I heard anything about this new one. October 22 was the first episode.
It's set at Coal Hill Academy (Clara's school). Kinda creepy, gross, stuff going on, but well worth watching. IMDB lists 8 episodes to come.

The new season/series starts in April 2017. Rumor is it will be Peter Capaldi's last, that since a new show runner is taking over for 2018 they'll be changing the Doctor too. Which would make his little speech at the end of the Christmas special not actually about River Song but about himself.

Really enjoyed the Christmas Special episode. I like Peter Capaldi, but since Dr. Who's 'regeneration' theory, I have gotten used to a different doctor every so often. I'm hoping for one who be more of a swashbuckler type.

Missy will be returning, don't know any further details.
Peter Capaldi has announced this coming series/season will be his last.

The Ice Warriors (inhabitants of Mars) are returning as well. And of course the Daleks,
Which will be responsible for the Doctor regenerating is unknown at this time. Could be either or none of the above.
Some fans actually want his companions to turn on him. I can't see that happening it would mean replacing the entire cast.

Really enjoyed the Christmas Special episode. I like Peter Capaldi, but since Dr. Who's 'regeneration' theory, I have gotten used to a different doctor every so often. I'm hoping for one who be more of a swashbuckler type. That sounds pretty interesting to me Sorta. I like Capaldi as an actor but not in the Dr. Who role. Are you thinking of an Errol Flynn type?
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.
