Hi MaG and Marian.

Tried hard not to ask for help here but between last night and today, I am still not getting anywhere.

I'm in The Hive trying to get through a doorway that is opened by musical slugs. My ear for sound is not good. I have tried for at least 2 hours, many different combinations. I'm feeling it's 2 of the same, then 1, then 1, then 2 of the same but that isn't working. That is not the only combos I've tried though. First I thought it was 3, then 1, then 2. And I've tried using all 5 tones with 1 doubled up, etc.

I don't know how to ask this. I don't want the answer but I need to know the tones somehow. Like above I stated I'm hearing the first 2 the same, then a different one, then another different one, and then 2 more the same (but different from the others) for a total of 4 different tones. If this makes any sense at all, can you try to help me with it without telling me which ones exactly? There are just too many different combinations to keep doing it the way I've been. I just need it narrowed down somehow.

Thanks!

Looking at UHS hints, there are 6 tones to copy.

The second and third tones are identical (so you press the same button twice).

The other four are all unique and do not repeat.

If you want more hints, let us know.

Ah. The second and third being the same is what I was working on before I came for help, but I really thought the last two were the same.

Thank you so much for this information Marian. Let me see what I can do with it.

I made a list of all possible combinations and went through it but no luck so I reviewed the list and it looked right, so I started over and got it that time. Must have done something wrong the first time. I never would have gotten it without your help!

Made it into The Lost Village and the game crashed (not for the first time) but this time I couldn't get back to my desktop. I finally somehow got some weird screen that had a circle thing on it where I could restart the computer. I'm afraid to go back in but am anxious to finish the game.

Just took a look at the table of contents in the walkthroughs and it looks like I still have a ways to go so I should just wait until tomorrow but, I will have to replay a little to get back in to where it crashed so I'm going to give it a try for that purpose and then leave it for the night.

Dang! It crashed there again but at least I was able to close out of it. I hope I don't have to abandon the game here. And a third time.

I'm playing the GOG version. Their forum shows other people with crash issues and no solutions. The Steam version seems to be fine. HM.

Thanks MaG. I managed to move on by doing a Quick Save right after completing the puzzle while I was transitioning to Olnec (name?). That skipped me into The Lost Village where I did a regular save. I've just been kicked out again and giving it a few minutes before I try again.

I am happy to hear you are moving on, but it would be nice if you could play a game that doesn't crash. I see a myriad of suggestions on the Sanitarium GOG forum for fixes for it, but troubleshooting stuff like that is always a pain.

Yes Marian, it would be nice to play a game that doesn't crash. The first part of the game went real good but not the second part. I did try some of the compatibility things but other than that only this Quick Save tip which somebody had mentioned, which has helped me a couple of times now as it does get you through some of the transition screens.

Right now, I am stuck not knowing what to do next though. Nobody has anything to tell me. I should have wrote down what was in my inventory because I don't know what they're called but I have the water, wind, and jaguar statue things, a ruby fish, and an empty bowl (not sure if I should still have this as I did use it already). I am supposed to be finding the Death Mask which is in Quetzalcoatl's tomb but I don't know where that is or what else I need to do.

Something confusing me is the Temple of Water. When you press the panels, water comes out but then stops. I feel I should be doing something with it (but can't) or that it shouldn't be stopping. ??

Is there a path you can follow behind the jaguar temple?

Yes, it goes to the witch's hut. I've done everything there I think. Got the pod of might, gave it to him he sacrificed himself, etc.

I wish this game was alt/tab friendly. This would be easier.

And after he sacrificed himself, there is something there that you can pick up - did you collect anything?

Have you since walked back to his hut and looked around?

Hi Marian. Just got back into the game tonight. I wasn't missing any items; I just needed to find the right place to use some items I had. I am now fighting this darn maze! I haven't crashed yet tonight but I think CCleaner was trying to open up and disrupted the game so I got out for a minute. If it's not one thing, it's another.

That certainly seems to be the case. The maze doesn't need to be made more "interesting" by a disruption. slapforehead

ARGHHH!

Got out of the maze, watched a long video and when it tried to go into The Gauntlet, it crashed! Have to go back and see if I can do the Quick Save at the right time.
