There is no such thing as lack of accent (the Iowa entry) as my cousins in Missouri would attest when I claim they do but I don't. I'm from Nebraska and to them there is a Nebraska accent. Everyone has an accent you may just not realize it because everyone around you has the same one.

I don't know where they got "Farmer wave" for Nebraska, I've spent most of my 52 years here (except for 3 in Hawaii) and I've never heard of it.

Quote:
ILLINOIS: “TRIXIE” AND “CHAD”
A “Trixie” is a derogatory slang term for a young, urban, white woman who is typically single (but looking to marry) and is in her late 20s or early 30s. The term originated in Chicago in the ‘90s to refer to ex-sorority girls who still lust after big, dumb, ex-fraternity jocks (called “Chads”) who grew up in the affluent North Shore suburbs and now work in law or business and live in Lincoln Park.

Born and raised by Lincoln Park in Chicago, lived there for 40 years and can honestly say I never, ever heard the two terms used. lol

Yep, "coke" is all carbonated drinks rotfl

It used to drive my kids nuts that their cousins called carbonated drinks "pop."

Well, they did get "Bubbler" (drinking fountain) right for Wisconsin. Although, since we've had an influx of non-native Wisconsinites settling here over the last several years it's not used as much as it once was. There are more humorous words and phrases in "Milwaukee-eese," mostly originating from either the south side of town or northern Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the classic Wisconsin accent seems to be giving way to a kind of generic California wannabe accent. smirk

I feel a lot more like I do now, then when I first got here
