Hi guys back again,has anyone played this game from GOG ? i played it along time ago and it was good -i have the CD for it .but i don't think it will play on windows 7.please let me know if you have played GOG version of it .

I have the GOG version of Real Myst and played it on Windows 7 just fine.

EDIT FOR realMyst: I found a post on the GOG forums which worked for me. Thank you to jaelkthompson at the GOG forums for posting it. None of it worked until I changed the video card settings to Direct3D HAL. The default was Direct3D T&L HAL. A copy and paste from the post:

Go to the Start menu and navigate to the realMyst program file, right click, choose "Properties" and click the tab "Compatibility".
Under Compatibility mode, check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for", and change the drop down menu to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
Under Settings, check "Disable visual themes".
Under Privilege Level, check the box "Run this program as an administrator".
Once these settings have been applied, click "Apply" and "OK" to exit.
Then, go back to the Start menu and run the Setup for realMyst, and make sure that the settings are as follows:
*3D Hardware, choose "Direct 3D", and change the drop down menu to the Direct 3D HAL setting for your graphic card

GOG doesn't say that it supports Windows 7 but does list Vista.

Interesting that GOG says "Real Myst" works on

but not on Windows 7.

GOG's "Real Myst Masterpiece" is supposed to work on

but system requirements are higher than for the older "Real Myst."

I could never get GOG's "Myst Masterpiece" (not to be confused with "Real Myst Masterpiece") to work on either Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 without crashing all the time.

I was thinking I had Real Myst, but when I checked, it was actually the Real Myst Masterpiece and you're right, Windows 7 is only listed for the Masterpiece edition.

is this a good game ? worth down loading ? i did some digging around on this game ,i just don't need the headache to run this game so i'm passing on this game .

It is the exact same game, only with an FPS-type game engine and a short "Age" with snow at the end. Neither Real Myst nor Real Myst Masterpiece is a real "point-and-click" like the original Myst, but there is the option to hold down a mouse button to move. If you played Myst V, movement is something like that.
