Me? Sneaky? Great solve! Rog, that works, but I could have used rain instead of pain. I suggest a new beginning.
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

Hhmm. Either that's a bijou hint or I'm flogging a dead parrot. So: 18. "pain" 'cos all the others start with ascenders ...and while we're in the land of no-hope, 11. Ohio, being the only one with a non-rectangular State flag
To waste one second of one's life is a betrayal of one's self. I wonder what's on television...?
