25 Interesting Things That You Learn About Computers in The Movies...

1. Word processors never display a cursor.

2. You never have to use the spacebar when typing long sentences.

3. All monitors display 2 inch high letters.

4. High-tech computers, such as those used by NASA, the CIA, or some such governmental institution, have easy-to-understand graphical interfaces.

5. Those that don't will have incredibly powerful text-based command shells that can correctly understand and execute commands typed in plain English.

6. Corollary: You can gain access to any information you want by simply typing "ACCESS ALL OF THE SECRET FILES" on any keyboard.

7. Likewise, you can infect a computer with a destructive virus by simply typing "UPLOAD VIRUS." Viruses cause temperatures in computers, just like they do in humans. After a while, smoke billows out of disk drives and monitors.

8. All computers are connected. You can access the information on the villain's desktop computer, even if it's turned off.

9. Powerful computers beep whenever you press a key or whenever the screen changes. Some computers also slow down the output on the screen so that it doesn't go faster than you can read. The *really* advanced ones also emulate the sound of a dot-matrix printer as the characters come across the screen.

10. All computer panels have thousands of volts and flash pots just underneath the surface. Malfunctions are indicated by a bright flash, a puff of smoke, a shower of sparks, and an explosion that forces you backward. See #7, above)

11. People typing away on a computer will turn it off without saving the data.

12. A hacker can get into the most sensitive computer in the world before intermission and guess the secret password in two tries.

13. Any PERMISSION DENIED has an OVERRIDE function.

14. Complex calculations and loading of huge amounts of data will be accomplished in under three seconds. In the movies, modems transmit data at two gigabytes per second.

15. When the power plant/missile site/whatever overheats, all the control panels will explode, as will the entire building.

16. If you display a file on the screen and someone deletes the file, it also disappears from the screen. There are no ways to copy a backup file -- and there are no undelete utilities.

17. If a disk has got encrypted files, you are automatically asked for a password when you try to access it.

18. No matter what kind of computer disk it is, it'll be readable by any system you put it into. All application software is usable by all computer platforms.

19. The more high-tech the equipment, the more buttons it has. However, everyone must have been highly trained, because the buttons aren't labelled.

20. Most computers, no matter how small, have reality-defying three-dimensional, real-time, photo-realistic animated graphics capability.

21. Laptops, for some strange reason, always seem to have amazing real-time video phone capabilities and the performance of a CRAY-MP.

22. Whenever a character looks at a VDU, the image is so bright that it projects itself onto his/her face.

23. Computers never crash during key, high-intensity activities. Humans operating computers never make mistakes under stress.

24. Programs are fiendishly perfect and never have bugs that slow down users.

25. Any photograph can have minute details pulled out of it. You can zoom into any picture as far as you want to. Example: "What's that fuzzy thing in the corner? I don't know, let's check. It's the murder weapon! Let's look under the bed for the killers shoes. no, just some comics books (Marvel 1954, very rare). Let's check the closet shelves...!"

Good morning everyboomie. welcome

Welcome to Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!!! joy2

AKA FOOTBALL DAY!!! joy

I think it's funny that, now that it's getting dark much earlier, I'm taking a sleeping pill much earlier, sooooo, I'm about to pass out already. tired

Or did I just get up? headscratch

I'm easily confused now-a-days.

I rented a movie, well actually it's a Direct TV promotion. I rent the movie, they don't charge me for it. bravo

I was wanting to watch a movie that I had not seen, and after about 30 minutes of looking at the movie list, I decided to watch Captain America Civil War. hamster

I started watching it, and was immediately seeing scenes that seemed familiar to me. I thought that they must be from previews that I saw on TV, or on line. Then I saw another, and another, and another scene that was familiar.

Then it slowly, painfully, dawned on me........I've already watched this movie, but I don't remember doing it.

By the end of the movie.........I told you it was slow......I finally pieced together in my mind, that I had gone to see the movie back when my sons came to visit me in the Spring.......and then forgot.

THAT'S how far gone my memory is.

I'm going to look at the list again to see if I can remember forgetting any more movies. It'll be like watching them for the first time.......................again. dance

Have a happy day everyone.

Oh Joe, I'm sorry that you picked a movie that you had already seen. But thanks for opening for us. I'm watching a movie that I have already seen also. Olympus Has Fallen. Good movie, even if it is the second time around.

Sending good thoughts for tomorrow. Have a great day. See you on the flip side.

Have a great Sunday Joe, Midge, Ana, Gerry and all who come in after me. wave

Well, I fell asleep with the light on again. slapforehead It looks like I'm still worn out from last week, and next week doesn't look any better, in spite of the fact that I'm off on Thanksgiving. All the hours are just piled up on the other days. Why did I agree to do a two person job by myself again? lol

Today I'm going to mostly relax, except for the obligatory singing practice. I think I may play some more Silence, and possibly Yesterday Origins. thumbsup

But first, I'm going back to sleep for a while. yes

Have a terrific Sunday, everyone. fall

Don't worry about forgetting the movie, Joe. It's only bad if you DO NOT remember watching it and watch it again and again. Yup. At least you pieced it all together finally. I forget movies and TV shows a lot. When buying new DVD's I take a written list of the ones I've bought and seen. I caught myself buying several duplicates. Ugh.

Kittens roaming. Mom is taking them on 'trips' to the neighbor's yard, into the back lots, etc. I sure hope she doesn't lose one in the process! They are starting to follow ME like I'm the mom. How cute. A little trail of 3 kittens all in a line walking behind me. Of course it's only that they think I have food, but 2 of them now are actually starting to come to me just for petting! Awesome.

More cute kitten news. Tippy (the most active playful one) came over to me in the yard, looked right up at me and I petted his head. THEN he rolled over on his back and invited me to tickle his tummy several times! Wow! Something new in kitty behavior 101. How fun. He's the leader for sure. Can't believe that he actually approached me when I didn't have food in hand. This could be a good start. THEN Mini-Me the mom decided to take the little guys into the other neighbor's yard! I heard skittering in the bushes ACROSS the driveway and there they were, exploring. Ugh! Hate it when they get that far away, but mom is teaching them the territory. I've already counseled my tenants about the tiny guys possibly being in the driveway. Hope everyone looks for them. scared

lol I like that term L4L. It's a good day here to be bednapped.

I hope you're over your dizziness.

Hello everyone. I hope you're all having a super Sunday. We had our first freeze of the year, and the frost was on the ground this morning until 9:00am. shiver

I didn't try taking the girls to the park until after the game. Fortunately the Cowboys played at 12:00 today. We just got back from the park, and Missy is already driving me crazy wanting to go out again. hardwall lol

Anyway I laid on the couch and covered myself with a blanket, with two pair of socks on, because I get terribly cold feet, and then I went to the park in shorts. crazy

It's 63 degrees out right now, but the wind is blowing pretty good. USA

You can tell when you look at the flag there that it's very windy.

Enjoy your evening everyone. thanksgiving
