I am indeed reading that this game has some very difficult levels and that sometimes players are stuck on one level for a couple of weeks until they are able to move on.

here of someone completing level 26. That won't really be of any help, though, because the jewel boards given aren't always the same. It does demonstrate, though, that it is possible to complete the level.
I found this advice online, which I think probably applies to this level as well as some others:
Key is to know when you can't go further and just hit replay. You want to start w/ at least 1 4 match on the board. You need at least a couple of gold coins to clear blocks at the end. As someone else said, it took me hours, so it can be done, good luck.
It's interesting to me that the developer of this game is Boomzap, who brought us the Awakening series of HOPAs as well as the Dana Knightstone series. I think a lot of players would have preferred that this game was more like the previous Jewel Quest games.
Good luck. I think it would take a lot of persistence and patience to get through this game.
