Well, this sucks so close to the beginning of the game (in Channelwood, I think it's called), but....I believe I have everything done that needs to be done EXCEPT...I cannot for the LIFE of me, figure out how to flip the switch on the clock tower! I can't wade across that water there, and I can't find a THING that explains to me what to do with the two wheels and the red button there. I assume if I knew what to do with them that I could somehow get to the clock tower's switch.

I've already found the constellations and pressed their corresponding buttons around that fountain with the sunken ship in the middle, but nothing seemed to happen after I did that. Perhaps I need to get that one switch at the clock tower flipped up first. Everything else shows up on the map in the library as switched on.

HELPPPP!!!! The heck with the hints...just tell me how to do it before I go insane! ARGHHHH!! <img border="0" alt="woozy" title="" src="graemlins/woozy.gif" />

Actuate all the "Marker Switches" you can on the island. Rotate the beacon on the map untill it turns red on one of the Marker Switch locations. Go up the elevator, get off and go around to the back side of the elevator and climb the ladder there. At the top is the info you need at that particular Marker location.

The Clock Tower is a little different in that you can have to set the clock with the two wheels in order to get to the Marker Switch. I did it by simply rotating the hands untill it worked and gave me the bridge. If you want the setting, though, it is 2:40......best I recall. Hope I didn't mess it up for you. laugh

I didn't do it......and if I did I'm not guilty!

Is Myst easier or harder than Riven and Exile? This game seems to be a real brain-twister for me. Maybe I'm just not too terribly bright!

BillyBob, I'll save that hug for ya....I have a feeling I'm gonna need you a few more times here! Yikes! Now I'm trapped in this age where my ships hull is full of water, there's a gazebo in the center of everything. It has a ladder inside and a key hooked to the plank at the bottom of the ladder. I suppose there's supposed to be something I can eventually open with that key.

Is there any way I can get back to the mainland? I think I should have gone to the age from the book up there where the big gears were! I can't figure out anything to DO here!

I also never got inside the spaceship on the mainland. Did I come here too soon? All I see is that gazebo, where I can't go up the ladder OR unlock anything, and a telescope, which although I've looked all around through it, I can't figure out what I'm supposed to be looking for.

I may be too dull of wit for this game. What am I missing? frown

Hi G.G.

There's a little island with an umbrella over it. It has 3 buttons you need to experiment with.

Use the telescope to get a bearing on one of the main features; you'll need that bearing for later use.

Let me know if you want more than these gentle hints.

-----------------------------------------------

PS. The game is non-linear; don't worry about which place you do first.

Also...how to I get BACK to the first age? You know...where the library and all is.

to get back to the first age (myst), you need to find a book in whichever age you're in, that will let you get back.

i recommend saving your game anytime you're about to leave myst to go to one of the other ages. that way if you can't find the book that lets you get back, you can restore back at myst and go to another age instead.

as for the gear age... don't be too eager! i played myst years ago and and am replaying RealMyst now. i have had a horrible time with the gear age. i know the info i need -- i have it written down in my old notes! -- but can't find it anywhere in the age. and i wrote those notes when i was 16! i think i'm getting dumber in my old age... i could just go ahead and use the info i have written down, but it's bothering me that i can't figure out how i found that info in the first place...

laugh emily (trying not to cheat!)

Ok, find the button out on that island that drains the water out of the lighthouse (you called it gazebo, I think). Then go downstairs in there and drain the water out of that chest; be sure to reclose the valve. Let the water back into the lighthouse and the chest will float. Now you can use the key to open it. Then go upstairs and crank the generator to charge the batteries. Now, with lights, you can go drain water out of other areas and go exploring.

You'll eventually find another linking book to get back to Myst Island. You need a piece of paper to take back with you; red or blue, you can only carry one at a time.
