After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say, “I want to see the manager.”

WILLIAM S. BURROUGHS

``````````````````
Holiday Feasting Tips
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand-alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food free. Lots of it ! Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.
`````````````````

Holiday Schedule

December 1
Blanch carcass from Thanksgiving turkey. Spray paint gold, turn upside down and use as a sleigh to hold Christmas cards.

December 2
Have Mormon Tabernacle Choir record outgoing Christmas message for answering machine.

December 3
Using candlewick and hand-gilded miniature pine cones, fashion a cat-o-nine-tails. Flog gardener.

December 4
Repaint Sistine Chapel ceiling in ecru, with mocha trim.

December 5
Get new eyeglasses. Grind lenses myself.

December 6
Fax family Christmas newsletter to Pulitzer committee for consideration.

December 7
Debug Windows '2000

December 10
Align carpets to adjust for curvature of Earth.

December 11
Lay Faberge egg.

December 12
Take dog apart. Disinfect. Reassemble.

December 13
Collect dentures. They make excellent pastry cutters, particularly for decorative pie crusts.

December 14
Install plumbing in gingerbread house.

December 15
Replace air in mini-van tires with Glade "Holiday Scents" in case tires are shot out at mall.

December 17
Child proof the Christmas tree with garland of razor wire.

December 19
Adjust legs of chairs so each Christmas dinner guest will be the same height when sitting at his or her assigned seat.

December 20
Dip sheep and cows in egg whites and roll in confectioner's sugar to add a festive sparkle to the pasture.

December 21
Drain city reservoir; refill with mulled cider, orange slices and cinnamon sticks.

December 22
Float votive candles in toilet tank.

December 23
Seed clouds for white Christmas. Festoon windows with worthless stock.

December 24
Do my annual good deed. Go to several stores. Be seen engaged in last minute Christmas shopping, thus making many people feel less inadequate than they really are.

December 25
Bear son. Swaddle. Lay in color-coordinated manger scented with homemade potpourri.

December 26
Organize spice racks by genus and phylum.

December 27
Build snowman in exact likeness of God.

December 31
New Year's Eve! Give staff their resolutions. Call a friend in each time zone of the world as the clock strikes midnight in that country.

```````````````````
Home Remedies
It is always important to have a plan of action ready in case an unfortunate event occurs at home. Here are some helpful tips that could really help out...
1. If you are chocking on an ice cube don't panic. Simply pour a kettle of freshly boiling water down your throat and presto! The blockage almost instantly removed.
2. Clumsy? Avoid cutting yourself while slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop away.
3. Avoid argument with the missus about lifting toilet seat by simply using the sink.
4. High Blood pressure sufferers: Make an incision in your left or right wrist and bleed yourself for several hours, reducing the pressure in your veins.
5. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep when you hit the snooze button.
6. If you have a bad cough take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough
7. Avoid the mess when your toilet backs up, use the yard. The grass needs the fertilization anyway.
Good morning Gameboomers everywhere. welcome
I'm thinking we should shorten the word 'Gameboomers' to just 'Goobers'.........just to save a few strokes. thumbsup12
What do y'all think? grin12
What can I say? Some ideas are diamonds, and some are a big pile of doggie doo. lab
Since I live with a couple of mutts, I have an abundance of that stuff. puppy
I had a good day today though. It was cold and miserable all day long, winter
When the temperature finally got up to 37 degrees, I took my girls to the park. The temperature said it was 37 degrees, and feels like 47(?) degrees. NOT! shame12
It actually felt like about -200 degrees gesundheit. shiver
I hope everyboomie has a wonderful day. wink12
Hello Boomers!
Hope you are all well and having a good day! Everyone ready for Christmas? Sorry I've not been here much lately, not been doing so good healthwise, but this will pass! Slowly but surely getting organised for Christmas which as usual will mean a full house with the kids and grandchildren...I love it! Everyone will chip in with the necessary so I won't have much to do except enjoy the day.
Take care friends!
Good morning everyone. wave12
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANA!! birthday
I've had my breakfast, had my coffee, done a little gaming, and I'm waiting for it to warm up a bit before I go out. smile12
Nan I hate to tell you this, but we are supposed to get to 63 degrees today, and 62 tomorrow, before the cold gets here. Sunday is supposed to be 29. wink12
I need to get up and do some exercising real soon before I change my mind. My other mind doesn't mind if I skip the exercising permanently. razz12
I wish everyone a super day today, and a warm one. thumbsup12
good morning everyone ! wave2
figured i'd better get here in case we lose power - we have a wind warning
for 30-50 mph winds with gusts up to 75 mph scared ...sigh - i so hate
winter.
no power is especially not good for me since i'm on oxygen. i can already
smell all the dust coming ,so i've gathered all the asthma stuff.
anyway , hope you all stay warm and safe ,and have a wonderful day,
no matter what ! catrub wave2
Fantastic Friday ya'll puppy
I've fed dogs and people, cleaned up the kitchen (a couple of times), finished laundry, and now I'm sitting and thinking on making turkey soup. Cooked down the bones yesterday. Have to decide what to throw in there.
Boys are being boys! rotfl12 They are in a Christmas parade later today with their dad. wave12
Off to recover from a WALLY MART trip. I went TWICE today because I needed a cat carrier to take the kittens to be 'fixed' and got one, and brought it home at 8:30 am. Put it all together with all those screws, turned it over and NO HANDLE! It was missing. Dunno why I didn't notice. So back to Walmart with the carrier. The 'return' line was out the door and only 2 clerks. They seemed to be taking people from BOTH lanes (money/returns). Had all of us noticed, we would have stood in the SHORT line. THEY got through way before us. I stood in that line for 45 minutes. Yep, I did. Had to get the new carrier before they sold out for Christmas pets. They always do.
So after finally getting to the head of the line, they put a 3rd clerk on. Hooray! I got my cash, went to the shelves and inspected the remaining 4 carriers. ALL of them had something wrong, but I found one that was good. Got it, went to the quick check, it was just me and a guy almost checked out. THEN just as the YOUNG clerk pulls my carrier to the 'scanner', a WOMAN barges in from the side with a full cart of already bought stuff and plops up her receipt and 2 items on the bagging thingy. The YOUNG clerk immediately started to tend to HER!!!!!!. Thankfully, she understood when I almost yelled, "WOULD you PLEASE check me out before handling her?" Luckily SHE nodded to him that it was OK, and I thanked her profusely. Geez, that would have taken another several minutes to figure out what she didn't like on the receipt. I've been in that situation before. Heard of Customer Service, where you go to do this sort of thing???? Wow. So I finally made it home, safely, fairly dry and put the carrier together and it's fine. Now on Jan 6, I have an appointment with The Neuter Scooter to get all 3 kittens done. This is the time since I saw Spot, one of the males, humping the OTHER MALE cat yesterday, hence the need for getting them fixed. Only 4 months old and he's already trying to procreate?? Not on my watch. slapforehead
