This may be the third time I've posted the same topic. I can't seem to figure how to do it. Anyway, here goes (again) I'm in Taghira. Drew the image of heat. Bahro picks it up. I run to the base of the heat pipes with the Blue, and then the orange buttons. But can't figure how to move the switches. Noting works. Just a transparent hand. What am I doing wrong? Also, how do you erase a slate in order to re-draw a symbol? Thank you.

To erase the slate, click on the image located in the lower left side of the slate that has two diagonal lines going thru the shape of the slate.
If the three switches at either the red or the blue pipe terminals don't rise up when the steam is activated by the Bahro, then you need to be sure that you've moved all of the switches outside each of the buildings the pipes go to. Once you've done this, then activate the steam effect, the switches at the red and blue pipe hubs will rise up and you can move them. Hint: be sure to look at the water pool as you move the pipe hub switches!

How do I make th switches raise? Does the slate need to be blank before I draw the heat symbol? If it does, how do I erase? I had to draw the heat symbol beside the ankh sign. Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still scratching my head.

Della --- yes, the slate has to be blank to write any other symbol on it. Click on the erase symbol in the lower left hand area of the slate to erase. Once you've created a symbol that the Bahro can use, you don't have to redraw it again. It appears in the lower left side if it a symbol they use to manipulate their world. It appears on the right hand side if it is symbol on other pedestals. Just click on the symbol to use and it is redrawn on the slate for you.
As you set the switches at the two pipe terminals, steam comes up on different pipes in the water pool. As the steam appears, life forms appear on the pipes (just as Esher mentioned about "life living under the ice"). When you set the pipe terminal switches correctly, both the red and blue ones, you have created a path across the pool. You have to experiment with the pipe switches to get it right (or you can look at Bert Jamin's WT under his post in this forum for the exact settings).

I finally found the path and got across the lake. Just had to work a little harder. Thanks for your help. Now I'm like some of the others , trying to figure out the shapes to draw. Thamks for the hint about going to the lake to see the path while moving the switches. Thanks dadguy and Bruce Fielder!!!!

You're most welcome Della. Re the Keep pedestal's image, it may be hard to see particularly as the Keep island will move from you as Esher said. You must make the Bahro take you there via the slate. Hint: look closely at the tomb stones and how they are stacked on one another. Good luck!

Hi all,
I had a really weird thing happen in my game in trying to get across the lake to get to the Bubble Keep.
Maybe the keep was somewhere else I don't know.
The walkthrough said to click on the heat symbol on the slate and drop the slate. Next you had to turn around and take 2 steps forward and walk around the path across the lake.
Well.....I tried to walk every which way I could think of and never did find the path to the keep.
I finally decided to just go to the slate and draw the symbol that the walkthrough had and luckly it worked. The symbol was placed on the pedestal.

Hi,
I never got any growth in my game or else I would have tried to walk on that.
I even tried more than once to use the slate to melt the ice lake but nothing happened. That is why I thought maybe there was another way across that I just wasn't seeing.

In the WT for Taghira, Bert says to draw an Ankh on the slate. Well, I drew about 20 ankhs without success before realizing he meant anchor. Drew that and Viola! the little monster took it. Jerry

How hard can it be to duplicate two rectangles connected by two lesser rectangles? I've drawn the dern thing a dozen times and had it at least as good as Bert's WT screenshot, but to no avail. This the fussiest, glitchiest game Ubisoft has come up with. My guess is they released it before it was ready. Jerry

OK guys, I finally got to the keep! I think the secret is...after you draw the keep symbol on the slate and drop it on the ground, leave the bubble and go clear to the end of the ice cave before you turn around and watch the monkey take the slate. Worked for me. Good luck, Jerry

OK, I'm stuck at the end. The symbol on the last pedestal is too far away and I can't see it to copy it down. Anyone know of a better picture.

Geo, you should have gotten a symbol for "heat" earlier--that might have something to do with all this....

Geo, if you notice the podiums, once you've marked the slate with the sign on that podium, it shows up on all of them, and all you have to do to go to one is to click on the sign on whichever podium you are near. So you can get to the one near the hut just by drawing the sign on it to the slate. Does that make any sense...

Phew! I have been going nuts climbing back to the place I THINK I should put the slate with the symbol I THINK is appropriate..but nothing is happening. Assuming a thaw comes from nature, where on earth should I try to put the slate???

TY Dadguy. Gotta tell you this poor Bahro is getting really tired of me right now. He stopped just scratching his head at me, and screamed. I have made interesting fog and spurts of steam in several places, so I guess I have the right symbol. Question still is, just where does this slate go! Tried the end of the pipes, the "button" spot on the two big pipes, even near the place I see the drawing (that was a great one to watch) but all of them seem to have no effect on the buttons and swiches. Perhaps I have missed something else..or is this timed?

Geo! Great news! I have been carrying the slate all over and dropping it in all the likely places I could find. One of them, dropping it by the frozen "grid" (the pipes in the pond) in the middle, has popped up the buttons on the big pipe on the left!!! Onward!!!

Geo, when you mark a symbol on the slate and drop it, the bahro picks it up and puts it on the pedestal. At that point, the symbol you drew on the slate should be marked on the pedestal, and you can travel there from any other pedestal by clicking on that mark. If you have already gotten the steam to rise, you should have at least two symbols on the pedestals...

OK, have to edit that last post. Doesnt seem to matter where I drop the slate-the Bahro warms things up and leaves the slate behind. I quickly go back over the slate to pick it up and then "park" it (just carry the slate to the pedestal by the main hut Geo) on the pedestal. When the steam stops I run back to the pedestal and repeat the process. Playing with bubbles now!

I found that using the same method of moving around that I used in Uru works really well for me. I'm not sure which of the methods described it is, but I use the arrow keys to move and swing the mouse around to look...

Wheel-the "shape of an envelope" sounds to me like the first shape in the icy cave. If so, put it on the same shape you see on the floor of the cave...
Dadguy-my thanks to you again for the Slate Instructions. An addendum-I couldnt operate the wheels on the huts while I had the slate in hand, and that is when I returned it to the pedestal.
I also found that writing the symbol for another pedestal gave you instant access to that area. Handy!

Wheel, is the steam keeping you from crossing the bridge? If you wait a minute or so, the steam will disperse and you'll be able to cross...

Dutch, do you have the book that came with the game? The directions for the switches are at the bottom of page 34 and the top of page 35. I'll put them here in case you don't have the book: SPOILER * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * right (blue) switches: right, left, left left (red) switches: left, right, left

I really need slate/pedestal help!
So far I have spent more time fussing with these things than playing the game!
I have just put the slate on the third pedestal - the one at the Tahgira Village. The strategy guide says that after I place the slate on the pedestal "noting that the third pedestal's symbol now appeared in one of the Slate's previously empty icons" - well, there are no symbols in any of the icons. They are all empty. Even the Pedestal 2 icon that was in one of them before is gone. They are all empty.
Now what do I do?

Christine, I don't think you are supposed to put the slate on the pedestal! I think you mark the symbol on it, and then drop it on the ground and step back--the bahro will pick it up and put it on the pedestal. At that point, the symbol should appear on the pedestal and you can link to that pedestal from any other one.
Dutch, you're past my knowledge--I'll see if I can track down Dadguy. He seems to be ahead of us...

Thanks Jenny, I got it figured out. I had done exactly what you said. It was when I went back to pick up the slate that the icons on the slate were empty.
So what did I do? I quit the game. Later, when I logged back into the game, VOILA!, the symbols were there on the slate.

Hi all,
What kind of book is it that came with your game? My book only has 11 pages in it.
Am I missing a book or is it a strategy guide that you order separately.

VHL -- the Limited Edition comes with the Prima Strategy Guide (miniature version).
I'm taking my time and experimenting with the slate. Why oh why didn't I take art lessons at some point in my life? Sometimes I'm not sure if the Bahro is scratching his head in puzzlement because I've written the wrong symbol or if I've written the right one, but badly.
I like the fact that, once used correctly, the symbol gets inputted into the slate and you can just click to use it again.
I've made steam come out of those hut things, and fire out of the one with the map in it. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, and I can't actually see where the fire is generated from -- there must be a stove or something up top in that hut.
I've found that, using the Advanced mode, I can move around more freely, get closer to things and even around certain things that I couldn't before.
This is a great game. I've just started it, and I'm already regretting that it's going to end.

Well...it's seems I'm having one of my "senior-moments" again..!!
I have been able to get the junction valves set...but then...I don't have a clue what I am supposed to do after that.
When I go and look at the "grid"...it is bubbling. Now what..? It seems my slate disappears...and...when I go to retrieve it (from wherever)...the valves reset.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Can anybody shed any light as to what I should do with the valves on the towers. The bahro creates heat and I see steam rising from the tops of the towers. Not sure what I am supposed to do, or rather, what positions I should place those valves in.

I'm s-o-o-o far behind you guys. I am in a red planet room in the beginning of the game (I think) and there are 4 switches with different quarters of the moon (I think) . Any hints??? Quite frankly, haven't a clue as to exactly where I am. Thanks in advance.

That place is Todelmer, rockingjranch. I know there is a general Todelmer thread somewhere..will try to find it and bump for you. You won't find too much help in this Tahgira thread for Todelmer I don't think. PS. Hint: turning on the power first is always a good thing to do in Myst

Hey, thanks you guys!! I knew it started with a "T" and that you guys would help set me straight. Okay, I will try turning on the power. You can also stick me in the right thread. By the way if there is any particular order that the game should be played in and I am in the wrong pew let me know. I don't mind starting over if I have to.

I have a big problem. I'm in the Toldemer Age, have completed everything and now I have to go back to the control room and set the last coordinates so the Bahro can do his job, but I can't get all the way down stairs because the cable is blocking my way again. Can anybody tell me what I need to do?
Sorry, posted this to the wrong forum.

Sorry, posted this to the wrong forum. hmm, so you got the last set of co-ordinates by taking the tram I am presuming?.. did you come over to the first tower on the tram too? If you did, just go back on the tram to the other tower and pedestal, and link back to the bubble pedestal on the first tower.

I pulled the lever on the tram, but it won't move. There must be something I'm not doing right.

In Taghira when I get to the lake,it says to draw the heat symbol on the slate. The ankh sign is still on the slate. How do I get rid of the first sigh to have a clean slate to draw the heat sign??Thanks in advance.

Hi, Click on the symbol on the bottom left of the slate that has 2 diaganal lines through it. That will erase the slate.

Stuck again. When I make tne heat sign on the slate and drop it, I run to the base of the pipe and see blue dots and levers but I don't get a hot spot to do anything. What am I doing wrong?

Somethings wrong again. In taghira when I draw the Keep's symbol and drop it, I leave the bubble and watch a bahre place it back on the pedestal. When I go back in the bubble the keep's symbol is not on the pedestal. What did I do wrong??

Hi Dadguy,
I just tried another 20 times and I don't understand why he doesn,t recognize it.The picture is a little hard to see but I think I got it right. Two rectangels connected by two lines and another rectangel connected to the bottom one. Thanks for the reply.

Me again. I finally got Bahra to recognize the slate. I entered the Keep and pressed the slate to release the arm.Good so far. Now when I press the triangle shaped sign to return to Deribo, instead it returns me to Taghira. I'm getting kind of confused. Does anyone know whats wrong?

At the green light in the control room,I move the left lever to the top and the right lever to the center. The inner ring of the device does not turn. Do I have to wait awhile till it does,or is it supposed to turn right away? Then after I go up the outer stairs to the blockage and back down to the control room,up the red stairs to the right to the end at the control panel.I move the levers but no green button comes on. Whats the problem??? Sorry if I'm a pain. Thanks.
