Todelmer. Isn't this a fabulous place! There are so many subtle details that I just love. Myst V is definitely an exploration.

YES!!! I am bumbling around-as usual-but in awe. Fun to have to revive my D'ni numbers notes!

Quick question (which the game will probably answer for me at some point): Is it necessary for me to deciper the door symbols ? I am just beginning here...have power and now watching numbers on what seems to be a version of an hour glass...playing with the machines...

KateVa, which door symbols? I may have missed them, which probably answers your question.

You are in Todelmer, right?

LOL! Yes, Todelmer. There are three symbols over the door to the "Red Room". I wondered if that was a clue I should have been able to decipher, but couldn't get a good view. Guess I won't worry about it now!

I'll go back and look, but I missed them and never did anything with them. And I thought I was looking at everything!

I must have spent 5 hours just looking in awe at Tedelmer.

Arghhh I cant find those Symbols and I need em razz

They are used for one of the Telescopes controls

Look at the first symbol to get an idea.. But before you move anything do look everywhere first as you will see if you jump ahead it will get annoying razz

EDIT: Found them shame I cant zoom in on them, kinda made it out.. For clarification -- Can someone tell me if symbol 2 is a Cross shape and symbol 3 is a vertical |?

Shame they had to do this a new way instead of the old fashioned Myst Style video frown

ergh...If I could see what the first one was I would, Dab! It looks like it could be one of the shapes..but impossible to tell which one.

As for the numbers...Will go back and check again...but if Dadguy didnt use them...

Kate (scratching head again)

The first shape will be a circle with a quarter missing..

This game you need a graphic card which can use AntiAliasing so it sharpens the lines..

EDIT: For KateVa

SPOILER**** Dont look at this if you want to find it yourself... If you have trouble in the game to see it clearly then look at the link below

Hey! I went back in to look at those symbols. You absolutely need them! KateVa, when you mentioned them I pictured something written right over the door. Those white symbols (high over the door) are a critical part of the gameplay. There is a way to read them!

Sorry for the confusion.

WEll, I should have just waited here! I took a bunch of screen shots, then played with them in Paint Shop Pro...so, I agree it is a six and a one.

At least I have progressed to the top of the stairs and seen another one! TY both!

I am stuck on the Bridge of Sighs...that is, the metal balcony with the levers at the bottom of the stairs. I can't see that anything is happening when I pull the switch down, although I get a lot of noise. I have looked thru the telescope on the roof a gazillion times...

What am I missing? Would love a nudge here!

OK, a couple nudges...

That metal platform is a dock for something. You'll have to travel elsewhere to be able to come to it...

There is a practical reason for pulling that switch to make some gear wheels move. What could it be? Check the telescope upstairs to see if your view becomes clearer of some things.

er...have pulled it a lot. Should I keep focusing on the same pillar I found the symbols? I see what looks like a door behind some kind of tram thingee...and I can see a pedestal on one side of that pillar. Keep pulling the lever and the switch, huh? Sigh...

How do I open the 2nd locked gate to get on Direbo to get to Todelmer Island? I can get the first one open but there is no way I can see to open the second one.

KateVa,

A bigger nudge...

Actually, you need only pull it once when the top switch is in the right position. The goal is to get the cable wheel up top to rotate to allow you a view of a second remote pillar from the telescope (the second pillar is to the left of the one with the three symbols) that is blocked by the big wheel. It allows an important view of something.

Dutch,

The only way to the right "island" on Direbo to access Todelmer is to go back to the Great Shaft. There are four link books there that allow access to the different "islands" you see on Direbo. When you get to Direbo, unlock the bridge gates and eventually you'll have free access across them mear the end of the game.

That's what I would like to know Kate I could ask him to run over to the 3rd pillar and copy the symbol and bring it back to me!!!!!. I KNOW I have set the big telescope to the right coordinates but I still cant see the darn 3rd pillar slate through the brackets. Can anyone describe what the symbol for the 3rd pillar looks like I have tried for hours and still cant get it to work. Thanks DG. Thanks for any help given. thanks thanks thanks thanks

Do Bahro sleep after a hard first age?
I cannot get a Bahro to pick up the slate with the upside down birthday decoration. I'll admit to being the world's worst artist, but this is getting frustrating. What am I missing...there's three of them, right? one long, two short?

Dutch, I can email you a sketch if you want. Describing it is hit or miss. Let me know.

Bishop, the Bahro will pick up the slate whether you have the symbol right or not. You must give it more space (i.e., back away farther). If he still doesn't recognize the symbol, erase and try again. By the way, I cannot imagine which symbol you mean when you say "upside down birthday cake".

Dadguy-I qualify for the Dumb Blonde Award on this one. I see a pillar with a pedestal (three rings attached to a fourth) and a telescope...but I don't seem to see much of anything change from my rooftop scope after I pull the lever across the "bridge" and pull down the handle. The top lever has only two positions...far right and far left. Is that correct???

Wheels within wheels...Kate

KateVa,

Yes, the lever to the right pulls the tram toward you when you click the switch, and the lever to the left pushes it away from you.

But the important part is that when you started this Age, the gear up on the roof was blocking your view of that pedestal on the far left pillar. If you can now see the pedestal just over top of that gear, you have what you need to get to it!

I presume you know what to do to get to that pedestal now, right?

Dadguy

ROFL! Yes, TY Dadguy...I was so intent on figuring out how to get the tram thingee across, I missed the obvious. Chalk it up to a White-haired moment!

The 3rd Bahro symbol was a toughie to find. But since im on the other end now, I cant find anything else :\

This age is a really tough one..

@Dadguy: He means the rain symbol wink

EDIT: [blip] hard to find those 2 missing co-ordinates. Looks like its a fine toothbrush time with those telescopes O_o
