You are such a good friend that if we were on a sinking ship together and there was only one life jacket. . . I’d miss you heaps and think of you often.

Only In America

I really do love this country, but...

1. Only in America... can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America... do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America... do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America... do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America... do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America... do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America... do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille.

Super Sunday ya'll puppy

We had a whopper of a storm last night. Lil Soot slept with me...cuddling which is unusual for him. It lasted all night til around 5 this morning. Thank God all the trees stayed up.

Space, I bet you are not alone in that wish.

Doc, I bet it's fun to watch them. My azaleas are all mixed up this year too. I bet the pups are adorable.

Hi ya, Haroula.

Gerry, any plans for the day.

Connie, have fun wave

Good morning boomies! Late night last night but I slept in a bit this morning so that made up for it.

Still trying to get caught up with stuff today and I'll be heading out for a nice walk/run later. I'll get my pups out too hopefully. It's so muddy out but they don't care. lol
Shadow is still favoring one hind leg but everyday is a little bit less.

Hope you all are safe from the storms!

I'm BAAACCKKK!

Right in the middle of everything (we were having a series of 3 rain storms with high winds) MY power went out. Well not just mine, about 35,000 homes in my area. Ugh!

So this was FRIDAY 3pm. Yeah, I just got power back last night at 11:25PM. I think that's 32 hours without electricity. There was NOTHING to do, No TV, Radio only had sports and politics, all the neighborhood around me and for several blocks were out out out.

Walmart was out, Costco was out, but they managed to get them back on fairly quickly. With our little area of 1600 homes, it' took 32 long hours. My neighbor and I walked the neighborhood and saw our SDGE gas and electric working on a very very high powered pole about 2 blocks away. That was early Saturday.

I called the SDGE number frequently and got updates on WHEN our power would be restored. It went, 3 am, noon, 3 pm, 6:30pm, 8:30pm, 9pm, 10pm, midnight. Fun. BUT the power suddenly went back on at 11:25pm. I was asleep, and the NOISE that the power cranking up all over the neighborhood was AUDIBLE. Strange. Just a big WHOOMP and Whirrrrr. Wowie!

So now I am trying to salvage stuff in my fridge and freezer. I think most things are OK but I'm on a cooking vent to cook up any perishibles from the fridge before they get a chance to go bad. Threw away a lot of stuff I just didn't want to take a chance on and am 'watching' others like shredded cheese.

So I'm back in the land of the living. Had a mini-apocalypse but didn't see any Zonbies. rotfl

We are having heavy heavy rains.....it's a good thing as long as it stays on the outside.

Sorta, time seems to drag so much when the power is out. Glad yours is back on. Hope you didn't loose too much to thawing.

Niteowl, glad you survived the winds.

Ana, glad to hear Shadow is still improving!

Nan, hope you guys are ice free soon. Can't imagine the ice is ever fun.

Hi ya Space, will you get out to enjoy the day?

Thank goodness I have an antique gas stove and gas water heater. Things were comfy. Just nothing to do. I even tried to use my 'battery jumper' thingy which has an AC plug-in port to run my TV/DVD 13 inch set. Made it 45 minutes before it ran out of power. I'll have to finish the movie today now that power is restored. Just found out too, that many homes just a block away didn't get power restored until 4 am today. Guess I didn't fair too badly. Food was pretty good. Frozen meat in the bottom drawer didn't even thaw a bit. I should have put everything in the lower half of the fridge/freezer. Next time...
