Margaret,

After you finish an Age, you must link back to pedestal #1 of that Age (the one that will have several links to the other pedestals in that Age), then click the center link to Direbo, then from Direbo, use the book on a stand outside of the bubble to link back to the Great Shaft. There are four different chambers at different levels of the shaft, each of which have linking books to different Ages. Find the next one.

Have fun,

Dadguy

VHL -- the Limited Edition comes with the Prima Strategy Guide (miniature version).

I'm taking my time and experimenting with the slate. Why oh why didn't I take art lessons at some point in my life? Sometimes I'm not sure if the Bahro is scratching his head in puzzlement because I've written the wrong symbol or if I've written the right one, but badly.

I like the fact that, once used correctly, the symbol gets inputted into the slate and you can just click to use it again.

I've made steam come out of those hut things, and fire out of the one with the map in it. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, and I can't actually see where the fire is generated from -- there must be a stove or something up top in that hut.

I've found that, using the Advanced mode, I can move around more freely, get closer to things and even around certain things that I couldn't before.

This is a great game. I've just started it, and I'm already regretting that it's going to end.

Margaret, you'll see that although the Great Shaft link rooms all look alike, the symbol on the linking book shows a different quadrent highlighted.

I used to live in Ridderkerk.

Well...it's seems I'm having one of my "senior-moments" again..!!

I have been able to get the junction valves set...but then...I don't have a clue what I am supposed to do after that.

When I go and look at the "grid"...it is bubbling. Now what..? It seems my slate disappears...and...when I go to retrieve it (from wherever)...the valves reset.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Not to many around so I'll give it a shot. The idea here is to set the valves in such a way that it "heats" the pipes in the grid creating a path that allows you to walk across to the other side.
You can see your starting point in front of you.
Just so you don'lose your slate, put it back on the pedestle after your done. Mordack

Dawna, They didn't reset. If you look closely you'll see that there is a faint indication that although the valves recessed down to their lower position, they are still diverted as you left them. It's a little hard to see because the position is very faint.

In any case, since the "heat" command that created the bubbly growth on the pond only lasts for 90 seconds, see if you can get across the path within that time. Set off the HEAT again, pick up the slate and start down the center path that goes to the right and then back and toward the center. You have to get off of the path on that middle, slightly raised snowy peninsula. If you fall off the bubbly growth, you will not be able to cross; in fact, depending on where you fall off you may be stuck until the HEAT stops. Then you'll have to go back and try the HEAT again.

But you won't have to fool with the valves again once they are set.

Enjoy!

Can anybody shed any light as to what I should do with the valves on the towers. The bahro creates heat and I see steam rising from the tops of the towers. Not sure what I am supposed to do, or rather, what positions I should place those valves in.

Yes, Alan...

Spoiler answer....

...turn them all on (to the right). These steam machines all send their steam to the diverter valves (follow the pipes) which then go to the pond with pipes under it.

That place is Todelmer, rockingjranch.
I know there is a general Todelmer thread somewhere..will try to find it and bump for you.
You won't find too much help in this Tahgira thread for Todelmer I don't think.

PS. Hint: turning on the power first is always a good thing to do in Myst wink

Hey, thanks you guys!! I knew it started with a "T" and that you guys would help set me straight. Okay, I will try turning on the power. duh You can also stick me in the right thread. By the way if there is any particular order that the game should be played in and I am in the wrong pew let me know. I don't mind starting over if I have to.

I have a big problem. I'm in the Toldemer Age, have completed everything and now I have to go back to the control room and set the last coordinates so the Bahro can do his job, but I can't get all the way down stairs because the cable is blocking my way again. Can anybody tell me what I need to do?

Sorry, posted this to the wrong forum.

hmm, so you got the last set of co-ordinates by taking the tram I am presuming?.. did you come over to the first tower on the tram too? If you did, just go back on the tram to the other tower and pedestal, and link back to the bubble pedestal on the first tower.

Grannygamer,

What do you mean it didn't work? Are you saying you tried to ride the tram back across and it didn't work? It's a pretty simple procedure; you just pull that lever in the car.

Then walk up the ladder (or up through the building) and out to the pedestal where you click the "homepedestal" symbol that looks like an envelope outline. You will arrive at the home pedestal and you can then run up the stairs to the red control room.

We can't send you a save for this game, so good luck!

I pulled the lever on the tram, but it won't move. There must be something I'm not doing right.

Try pushing it the other direction.

DrDel has it, I believe. She has become a wizard at Myst V.

I'll try it myself to see if that works. I know I have made the Tram ride both directions; I just can't remember exactly how I did it. It makes sense that if you were in the middle, the Tram would need to know WHICH way to go.

Let us know if this does it for you. Push it by clicking on it then dragging the cursor up and away rather than down.

On the bottom left of your slate there is a symbol...a slate with little lines going down through it..it's an erase symbol, just press it.

Skeeter, did you turn the valves by each of the huts? That has to be done before the switches will work... luck
