Have upgraded our graphics card twice and just bought a new monitor.
It's worked before on this desktop... now, it appears to install and then when you click to play -- you get as far as creating and naming your avatar --- but when you try to play-- nothing. Doesn't seem to crash-- the small set up window for naming your avatar just goes 'poof'.

Tried to play it from the "computer" and "dvd" choice -- didn't work.

Installed correctly in the default "C" drive.
Also tried to play it from the shortcut that installed to the desktop. :(

Uru DVD used SafeDisc v3
Microsoft blocked SafeDisc from running on Windows 7 and later because it was a security risk and tended to make Windows less stable.

Apparently they also did this with Vista.

GeForce GT 710 is an extremely low end video card.
If this was supposed to be an "update" you got ripped off.

Either I'll attempt to bypass the controls blocking SafeDisc v3 --- or I'll buy the digital version off of Good Old Games and hope it works !

P.S. -- Since I cannot upgrade my desktop pc by myself as I'm too afraid of causing harm to it , I had it upgraded at Best Buy. I didn't know that about the video card ; but I THINK the tech person said it was as high of a graphics card as my dinosaur pc would allow. (?)

That's what I was going to assume - the motherboard and power supply probably wouldn't support anything better. It was probably still better than the old on-board graphics. I keep an old dinosaur around too!

GOG is probably the best option - much less tinkering that may or may not work.
