Syberia 2 is from 2004, which is late enough that the SafeDisc DRM on it is likely now blocked in Windows 7 and later.
The original Syberia CD is from 2002 and the SafeDisc DRM on it may be the old version that isn't blocked. However it needs a patch not to have issues with Hyperthreading and multicore processors. Reissues with newer SafeDisc DRM will be blocked the same way Syberia 2 is.
Either use a NoCD (Google Syberia 2 NoCD) or purchase a DRM-free download. When there is a sale, you can get the games for less than $5.00.
You can try the Syberia 1 patch and see if it helps, but if it "updates" the DRM too, you'll have the same problem as with later versions of the game.
