We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace.

Mind Benders

These aren't necessarily jokes, but they are so weird that you'll probably just start laughing after you read them anyway. That is until you start racking your brain trying to figure out how they work out how they do!

3 guys go for dinner, each buys a $10 steak. At the end of the meal, they collect $30 between the three of them to cover the cost of the meals and gives it to the waitress. She goes back to the cash register, where the overlooking manager says "Those dinners are discounted, you need to give them $5 back." So the waitress gets the five dollars, and returns to the table. Not knowing how to split $5 between the three of them, she gives 1 dollar to each of the three patrons, and kept two for herself.

Now if you do the math, together they paid $30, got $3 back meaning they only paid $27. The waitress kept $2. This totals $29. Where did the last dollar go?

So you want a day off. Let's take a look at what you are asking for. There are 365 days per year available for work. There are 52 weeks per year in which you already have 2 days off per week, leaving 261 days available for work. Since you spend 16 hours each day away from work, you have used up 170 days, leaving only 91 days available. You spend 30 minutes each day on coffee break which counts for 23 days each year, leaving only 68 days available.

With a 1 hour lunch each day, you used up another 46 days, leaving only 22 days available for work. You normally spend 2 days per year on sick leave. This leaves you only 20 days per year available for work. We are off 5 holidays per year, so your available working time is down to 15 days. We generously give 14 days vacation per year which leaves only 1 day available for work and I'll be damned if you are going to take that day off!

Depending on how you ask the questions, you can force the answer you seek! Remember 43% of polls are wrong, the other 78% are made up! Don't jump to the answer, just scroll down. Take this test mentally, don't write down your answers, and don't shout them out.

1. Pick a number from 2 to 9. It can be 2 or it can be 9, or any number in between.
2. Take that number that you've chosen, and multiply it by 9.
3. That should give you a two digit number. Take those two digits and add them together.
4. Take the resulting number and subtract 5 from it.
5. Take that number and correspond it to the alphabet, numbering the letters. A =1, B=2, C=3, and so on...
6. Take your letter, and think of a country that begins with that letter.
7. Take the last letter in the name of that country, and think of an animal.
8. Now, take the last letter in the name of that animal, and think of a color.
9. But remember, that there are no orange kangaroos in Denmark.

Things on the love landscape sure have changed over the years...

SAMPLE OF A MODERN LOVE LETTER

Dearest Samantha,

I am very happy to inform you that I have fallen in love with you since Tuesday, the 17th of August 2001.

With reference to the meeting held between us on the 17th of August 2001 at 1500 hours, I would like to present myself as a prospective lover. Our love affair would be on probation for a period of no less than three months and depending on compatibility, would be made permanent.

Of course, upon completion of probation, there will be continuous relationship training and relationship appraisal schemes leading up to promotion from lover to spouse. The expenses incurred for coffee and entertainment would initially be shared equally between us. Later, based on your performance, I might take up a larger share of the expenses. However I am broad-minded enough, to be taken care of, on your expense account.

I request you to kindly respond within 30 days of receiving this letter, failing which, this offer would be canceled without further notice and I shall be considering someone else. I would be happy, if you could forward this letter to your sister, if you do not wish to take up this offer.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely, Max

MODERN REPLY TO MODERN LOVE LETTER

Dear Max,

Please refer to your letter dated today. I am pleased to inform you that I hope to accept your proposal for romance.

However, you should be informed that there are certain conditions of acceptance. Promotional prospects are to my satisfaction. However, please enlighten me as to your retirement benefits. Gratuity should be generous.

I also need to be assured that there is sufficient security with regards to this commitment. If there is any chance at all of retrenchment or consequent disinterest on your part, then I should receive monetary compensation according to union standards.

Due to the nature of my position, I am sure you will agree that an expense account should be arranged for my access in light of the 'VIP'. I shall be entertaining. In addition, housing and transport allowances should be in order and nothing less than a Jaguar is in order.

Please also note that there should be no moonlighting restrictions placed on myself. If you are still interested in the relationship, please reply on an urgent basis as other prospective lovers have sent indications of interest.

Please also note that my sister is happily employed.

Yours perhaps, Samantha!

Morons Of The Year

Presenting the top morons of the year...

1. WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP?
AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership. He received a $26 million severance package. Perhaps it's not Walter who's lacking intelligence.

2. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS:
Police in Oakland, California spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting, "Please come out and give yourself up."

3. WHAT WAS PLAN B???
An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from own his bank accounts.

4. THE GETAWAY!
A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Stop, and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked at the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

5. DID I SAY THAT???
Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who just couldn't control himself during a line-up. When detectives asked each man in the line-up to repeat the words: "Give me all your money or I'll shoot," the man shouted, "That's not what I said!"

6. ARE WE COMMUNICATING??
A man spoke frantically into the phone, "My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart!" "Is this her first child?" the doctor asked. "No!" the man shouted, "This is her husband!"

7. NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED!!
In Modesto, California, Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun, but unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his pocket. (hellllllooooooo!)

8. THE GRAND FINALE
Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, California, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 ft. boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every manoeuvre, no matter how much power was applied.

After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, thinking someone there could tell them what was wrong.

A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, and the prop was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath.

He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard. NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE ... Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer

Well tonight I have to give in before I smash my computer. My internet is infernally slow. I'm waiting hours for a page to load, so I dug to the back of Mixed Bag, and dredged up a rerun. rolleyes

Hopefully your memory is as bad as mine. lol

Is it next Tuesday already? razz

It seems like it was yesterday when Monday sped by. headscratch

Monday was rough. I did that exercise routine, and was so winded it felt like the first time. shocked

That's what I get for taking two days off. It's rough when one day you almost feel like Superman, and the next day you feel like the 98 pound weakling. zombie

Have a happy day everyone. yes

Good morning everyone, have a Great Tuesday. L4L, I hope Seagy heals quickly. puppy Outlaw hated the cone of shame too. He's so low to the ground it got caught on everything. We had to cut a section out just so he could eat. He's still licking spots where he has fatty tumors. lab Dinner, karaoke, and some dancing tonight at 88Panda with friends. reindeer It was Super windy yesterday, blowing everything away. eek It should be better today. Terrific Tuesday ya'll puppy

My den is full of sleeping dogs. Of course, as soon as I stand up to go get coffee, 2 of them will jump up to join me on the theory I'm going to feed them.

Joe, I feel your pain. Hope your net is behaving itself now.

Ana, hope the fun part gets there quickly.

Haroula, wavegirl

Gerry, hot chocolate sounds perfect. Thanks!

Connie, we take the cone off so Seagy can eat and get water. Last night she didn't eat, but I didn't really expect her to. I'll be surprised if she eats before the cone is gone for good. She is not good with change.

Gail, hope everyone has a warm and blessed snow day.

morning to you all !

hope you all stay warm and safe in the northeast ! i do not miss the winters

there one bit, i have to say.

high winds expected again today here ,combined with the cold temps

means we will all be hoping the power stays on.

it's either power or water problems here it seems. at least the sun is out.

my sister will be here soon , so i'll catch you all later !

have a wonderful day ! wave2

Blue sky and white puffy clouds! Haven't seen them for over a week. Nice.

Speaking of the 'cone of shame'. I was surprised when Shadow (the new kitten female) came home from the Neuter Scooter with a pretty blue 'cone' but not stiff plastic. It was a pliable sort of soft, clothy thing, with elastic and a velcro closure which allowed movement. No banging on anything. It was just long enough to prevent her mouth from contacting any part of her. Nice. I'm saving it for future use. Our Neuter Scooter provides low cost spay/neuter and treats for fleas, any other thing they notice while doing the job and calls you later to check up on the progress of the 'patient'.

Off to calculate more on building that fence between me and the hermit neighbor. It's falling down big time since the recent storms/wind. I've got to do something or the roaming dogs will get into my SAFE yard and get the cats. Happened long time ago before the majority of fencing went up when I bought the place. Time to 'shame' the neighbor into doing something, but since he's not cooperating, I'll just have to butt my new fence up against his failing fence and let it go at that. My side, my fence no problem with the property line and what he does is up to him. Supposedly trying to sell off his property to some big developer and hoping for a ton of cash. Maybe he will, but I've heard this before. Time to take action for my side. Gonna be a big project and I will have to encourage my friend/tenant to help build fence sections (he hates physical labor and anything outdoors) but I've done it before and it's only 87 feet of span. I've figured it all out, drawn the pictures for HIM and we can do it. One 8 foot section at a time and eventually it will all be done. I'm using those 'metal in ground post holders) that I've used before. They are awesome. No cement, no digging. Lots of sledge hammering but they provide a really stable base and the ones in place have been there since 1998 and are still going strong. Already ordered them for delivery. THEN the project starts. Wheeeee.

Good morning everybody. wave2

Well my ISP let me know first thing this morning that I had used 100% of my data allowance for the month, and that my service would slow down significantly. mad

They can kiss my big Baboon bottom. Ten MB per month is nothing. blech

If you have a smart TV and smart phone they suck up all you data by the 15th of the month. I'm at a loss. If I change ISPs, I'll still have the same problem. What's the point of having a wifi hot spot? smirk

It is a true dog day for me today. I have 4 dogs all day. My neighbors who own Missy's brother, have to drive to Oklahoma City for a doctor's appointment, and I am dog sitting for them. bravo

They have settled down now, but poor Mannie is very distraught. He's not happy at all about not being at his house. I let him outside, and he just runs around the fence line looking for a way to get out and go home. He's 10 years old, and spends most of the time pacing the floor, and looking at the door. He is a Sheltie dog breed. lab

It's time for lunch now, and then I have to get on my treadmill and walk. yes

Enjoy your day everyone. wave2

Joe, did Mannie go home yet?

Seagy is doing better today....no more whining which I appreciate considerably. Tomorrow we go get the bandage changed and the drain tub out.

Son was supposed to have the day off, but got called in to work. I've been very tired and achy today so have been doing a little a resting a lot.

Sorta, that fence sounds like a big project. Are you getting the prebuilt fence sections?

Niteowl, I hope you keep your power. luck

Welcome home, Space wave

Betcha didn't know that a 4x4 fence post can expand about 1/4 when it's rain soaked. Nope, I didn't either until I couldn't open or close my front gate without a major effort. Eventually, I couldn't get it to budge without a hammer. So today, I went out with sandpaper, no luck, WD-40, ditto, and finally got my dad's old plane thingy out and took off 1/4 inch of wood. Works better now. Can't wait for dry weather so it will shrink again. Who knew? duh
