Hello. I have had the above game for a long tome now and have failed to ever finish it! Thought I would give it another try and am nearly at the end. You have to put chemical powders into a grate and then set alight. If you get the measurments correct then a huge light envelops the screen, (this is what should happen my walkthrough tells me),instead the symbol of Omega appears and tells me that my game has prematurely ended, and would I like to quit or go back to last save? Actually neither as what I would really like is to continue the game! Any ideas please? Never seen such a thing before?

Lozza,

I moved you to Hints forum from Glitches because this events are part of the game - not a glitch.

This means that you were incinerated-blown up-died because you made a mistake in doing the puzzle. It's like in Nancy Drew games - you have to try again.
If you have a saved game before this puzzle go there and do the puzzle correctly. It is not a glitch. luck

Thank you. I have had a couple of grey puffs thought that was my signal that I had failed. Thought all was correct when it changed to yellow light. How do I know when All is correct please? How many goes do I get?

You can try as many times you want. No problem there - except this is one frustrating puzzle.

- Be sure that you are NOT clicking on the grate-lever. I you do it discards the powder that you measured.

You'll know that your mixture was right when the disk appears in the grill. You'll see a flash of bright light. When the light goes away, look in the grill.

Did you ever stop to think and then forget to start again?

Hi there. I have filled the grate many many times and always get blown up! Surely by the law of averages I should have got it right at least once!? I am beginning to wonder if I have missed something but I really don't think I have. What do you suggest apart from keep trying. I have checked the scoops and the ammount of powder each time sooooooooo?

Lozza,

I sent you a saved game.
I don't know where the saved game folder is located for TOS.
See if you can find it in the installed TOS game folder. luck

I have two saved games from around this puzzle, one of which should be right after it. I probably played on Windows 98 or 2000, possibly XP (almost sure it wasn't XP). Would saved games from another computer with a different version of Windows work?

Never mind. I see Marita sent one already.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks. Appreciate it. Lucky I have one but with no memory of where files are located.

With Windows 98, 2000, or early XP, the savegames would probably be put in a different location from Windows 7/8/10 anyway.

Mine were in
C:\Program Files\The Omega Stone\Savegames

but that's playing in Windows 98 or 2000
My saves are from 2003

Windows 7/8/10 would probably put them in a subfolder of the hidden AppData folder or possibly in a subfolder of the Users folder.

Hello and Thanks to all who heiped me with this game, thanks again mates. One last try of the powder measuring and I cracked it! Moved on to the placing of the discs took me a while but passed that one too, Then put the lid on the pot and there I was finally finished. I have had this game seven years and never got out of the water caverns with the correct amount of skulls and or scrolls. I did enjoy playing but could have never done it without your help. I could not use your "save" as I was told that I have a terabyte (prob spelled wrong)machine and also Windows ten soooooooo. Took a while and a lot of writing down to do the final disc placing but it was manage. Before I go I would just like to tell you I have just started playing Barrow Hill The Dark Path so to save your sanity run for the hills Ha ha. Thank you again. Lozza.
