Hi all, wave
I wish this game would never end and it looks like I can reach this goal, because every time I have to jump somewhere it takes hours to finish.
Now in San Francisco I need to jump from a crate to the broken fire escape and I am getting tired and bored. Please give me some hint about exact Oliver's position on the crate? Meanwhile I am just enjoying roaming the long streets of San Francisco in this cute racing car. rolleyes

Springchicken,

I usually go as close to the wall, then at the same time press on space bar and forward arrow or W.
If that doesn't work - I back up one step from being close to the wall and do the spacebar/forward.

Yokohama save 7 is after finding the Buddhas and Yokohama 8 save is before the talk with Yoko at the hotel.
There are no saves after that.
You get the transport ticket at end of the Yokohama part.
So where are you now and are you having a problem getting the ticket?

I'm sorry,

don't mean to be confusing...
I did everything just fine, the only problem that I have is that I've already ridden the boat, I need to be able to purchase a ticket for the zepplin to go on to San Fransisco.
Can you help MaG?

Thanks,
Cleo4

That took a while for me too.
To go up I change the point of view to be lower (so I'm looking up) and then go forward to go up and did the reverse to go down.
What worked for me on landing the zeppelin is to try and I mean try... to be level with the wing pad.
Then move forward or backward as slowly as I can until it clank to show that it is attached.

Hi MaG and Cleo,

Through experimentation I found this valuable tidbit:

- Hit the SHIFT key (the same one that makes you run) while going FORWARD in the zeppelin and you will rise quickly.

- Hit the SPACEBAR as you go FORWARD and the zeppelin will drop!

I can't remember if it will just drop and rise with those buttons if you are not going forward...I think it does (I got over the docking spot and just hit SPACEBAR to drop to the correct level).

Try it!

UGH! I made it all the way to the schooner boat, and when I started to break up the ship for fuel I got the dreaded "Sorry, you did not make it in 80 days! Please try again".

I am not sure how far back I will have to go to replay and gain back a few of thos lost days (from when I ran out of energy and woke up in the street with half an energy load). My sense is that I am about one day short, so maybe I won't have to go back too far.

Grrrr.

Dadguy, If you're on tourist mode - replay only the schooner bit.

Thanks. I replayed from the most recent spot and it failed the same way a couple times. I'll go back one more.

Cheers,

OK, I got it. Thanks, Marita.

The failure was due to the puzzle of feeding the fire in the boiler, not because I didn't make it in 80 days. You have to be quick with the first pile of wood to keep the fire from going below the red line, then quickly continue busting up the ship for wood for the boiler.

I really liked the game. Truly funny dialog, beautiful scenery, nice 3D engine, easy puzzles (which allows for more exploration than mind-bending struggles - my preference).

Hello,
I had hot spot trouble also.I waited for the game freeze where it accesses the cd-rom for awhile and loads stuff, and then the hot-spots were there.I also dont think there is any paticular game point for these freeze-loads,they seem to be random, almost on a time schedule rather than a game point schedule. If I am right ,just wait it out until this happens. My trouble was the hot spot for the planks on the way back from the island budda.

Ok, how fast did you go in Yokohama in the gas rikshaw? I spun around several times because I went too fast on a turn!

Which is your favorite mode of transportation. I think the magic carpet was hands down the most fun to ride.

I am finally on the ship and finished bartending, now to wandering the ship.....

I liked the wheel in which you sat in the middle of the wheel.

Yes, it was fun to hit the shift key and really get the speed up!

Hey guys,

Finally, I've been away doing other things, never a got a chance to finish the game until a couple of days ago, I'm at the very end, can't get the wood in the furnace fast enough... I was almost tempted to just walk away but I've put so much time into it I don't dare, can someone send me a saved at this point so that I can atleast get the story?

Thanks again,
Cleo4 thanks

The last saved point of 80 Days is the start at the sloop. To see the end, this sloop-furnace puzzle has to be finished. I'm sorry.

Try to get the closest planks to the furnace first so that you can accumulate more time to get the farther ones. You can do it - takes lots of patience and huffing and puffing. luck

I am at the spot with the Gold Buddha. I have a mental blank with this one. I saw a diagram with the lines drawn on the stones in a walkthrough. But, the arrows go both ways. Which stones go on which posts? Is there any special order? Help! Thanks.

Hi Laurette, the stones do go in certain places and you will only use two of them. I used the side stones to guide me with this puzzle. Match the second stone up from the bottom on the left side of the stones in front of you.....should be two complete lines with a break in the line at the bottom that you will place on the left column as you face it. The stone for the right column has the broken line at the rop and two solid lines under it. Match it to the top line of stones, third from the left.
Good luck

Sue

It's not that hard of a puzzle if you look for the symbol that you saw on the rock. There's just a lot going on and that makes it confusing.
Good luck!
Oh, be sure to wait a few seconds after you place the stones to see if there is a cut scene of the bridge coming down.

I am very near the end trying to lower the small steam ferry at the back of the Big ship. The right derrick puzzle went ok but the left puzzle is doing weird stuff. When i click on it I can only see 6 0f the 9 tiles of the right pattern, therefore i dont know what color 3 of them are so I cant finish the puzzle. Also my mouse slows down and moves erratically around.I think i am into some kind of serious bug. What do I do now? I am so close to the end!

Geo,

Try closing the program, do a hard boot (that is tunr off the computer completely - not restart, wait a bit, then turn on the computer again) close all other background things and/or play with the options to see which one helps.

Also when doing the puzzle, do it slowly.
The next save is at the sloop part already and you will miss some stuff. frown
If you want that saved game - holler.

hello,
I already tried all those hints.I cant do the puzzle slowly if I cant see part of it.I dont think I need a save unless there is something spectacular at the end I will miss.

There's the end timed puzzle and then the end of the 80 Days trip plus the explanation of the ending.
