I don't think my problem is a glitch??? But I can't figure out how to save my games. When I go to Madam whoever--& try to save I put in a name & she sends me back an error message that the game won't save under that name & there is A <300> listed after that. I have tried every name I can think of - date, name of where I am in the game, etc. & this means I have to start over.

Thanks for the help.

I found this at Quandary's review of 9:
The save/load game feature is accessed via the keyboard and it is here where Isadora takes charge and carries out your instructions. This screen also allows access to the game options menu where you can adjust screen transitions, sound, colour, etc. Though I concede it might have been a problem with my system configuration, the game crashed far too often at this point and it was sluggish both opening Isadora's screen and saving and restoring. Also, Isadora is quite 'chatty' and though I got used to her after a while, I'm sure that, like me, many game players prefer game saving and loading to be quick and easy with no 'frills' attached so that it doesn't interfere with game playing.

So it looks like Isadora is not cooperating with you. frown

I found my 9 game but it is for the MAC not PC; maybe the saves will be the same on both.

Saving a New Game:
From Isadora's main screen, click the card labeled 'New'.
Opening a previosuly Saved Game:
From Isadora's main screen, click the card labeled 'Open'. She will present a list - select - click on 'open' card or just double click.

Saving the Current Game:
From Isadora's main screen, click the card labeled 'save'. Isadora will save your current game or prompt you to enter a name for the game if it has not previously been saved. She will then return you to your previous location in the Last Resort.
Note: The 'save' card will be disabled if no changes have been made to the game since it was last saved.

Saving the Current Game in under a Different Name:
From Isadora's main screen, click the card labeled 'save AS'. Isadora will request a bew bane to identify the game and will then save the game under that name. She will then return you to your previous location in The Last Resort. From this point on, any changes you make will be saved under the new name.

Thank you MaG. All the cards come up (new, save, save as, quit. And when I click on either save or save as a scroll comes up & she tells me to name th game I want to save, I type in a name, ie right now I am trying to figure out the organ stuff, so I have put in organ, music book, the date, & have even left it blank. At which time she blabs, blabs, & then a larger scroll comes up with an error message that the name is not correct & there is a <300> after that messsage. I managed to tweak my windows XP &am playing it on this. Could this be my problem?

Thanks

Mome

Ah, just a long shot - I think that name is too long. Maybe use a code like organ1 or organ2, etc... Can you try and keep us posted. luck

Oh MaG what a dilemma!!! I tried your suggestion - didn't work. Manual says"From Isadora's main screen click the card labeled Save. Isadora will save your game or prompt you to enter a name. Now, I hve tried not entering a name but that didn't work she wanted a name, I have short names , etc. The message that comes up is Sorry, an error occurred while saving this game. (Error=Bad file name) <300>. The name I try to save is always something relating to where I stopped.

Thanks

Mome

Mome frown ,

Post at Glitches also, maybe they can explain that error and maybe they can get you going on this old game. Maybe compatibility or some other manipulations that can help. luck

I would suggest compatibility of Win95. Also select 256 colors and 640x480 resolution.

Something else that might help is removing your current version of Quick Time and installing the version that comes with Nine.
