I started this game today and so far have spent an awful lot of my playing time getting lost.
As in real life, once I turn more than a couple of corners I have no idea where I am !!
[Which is my I'm not one of your magnificent Myst type gamers.]

Anyway ....
Amongst other minor achievements, I have opened the door that requires positioning the blocks correctly on the circles and inside the room behind that door I'm confronted with a chest that I know can be opened.
I know it can be opened because I have watched several UTUBE clips that show just that.
However, I cannot open it - no matter which mouse icon I use.
[On the clips I've watched it's just the "hand" that works but I cannot get it open with either of my two hand shapes.]

In my inventory I have two letters, a "dial" of some kind and a crystal style torch.

Should I have something else before I can open that chest ??

Any scrap of help will be very welcome

I've only just been able to get back here, sorry, but I've tried the "hold & drag" you suggest - and with both styles of hand icon.
However, the chest doesn't open for me

I'm at a loss now as to what else to try

It shouldn't be a hand icon, it should be a little vertical line with an arrow on top and bottom. It should be on the handle of the chest. Once you find that, that is where you hold and drag. I think I remember that sometimes in Quern I am a little too close to something I want to manipulate and had to move back a tad to get the right icon.

Done it at last !!

I watched yet another utube walkthrough and saw that unlike the others, this one interacted with the chest when the "little vertical line" was showing and not a hand icon.
So I went back to the game and tried the hold and drag using that and it worked.

And then I came back here to tell you and found you telling me to do just that !!
