Did you know that in England every pub has by law to display a pub sign? Many of these signs go back centuries and most have a story on how they were chosen. One countryside pub has a sign called ‘The Quiet Woman’ The story goes that way back she was a serving girl at the pub but she was also a most irritating and relentless nagger. The pub sign denotes a serving wench minus her head because her lover, who couldn’t stand her non stop nagging anymore, decapitated her. Now her ghost haunts the pub, but she does so very quietly.
