Lenny the Lie-on Lion is very laid back, he likes to let his friends have their own way, hence his nickname. His favourite game at his parties is inventing similar sound-alike sobriquets for his friends. Can you tell who is at this party?
Lenny is from London in England, so his North American friends may be a bit puzzled on seeing some of the nicknames written down - there is a similar sound, but it isn't exactly the same - until they remember that Lenny doesn't sound the final 'R' at the end of a word. Lenny's helpful friend, Horace, from Hampstead, also has an English accent.

-1.Horace stood by the door and greeted everyone with a neigh and a whinny, before announcing their arrival to all and sundry. By the time the evening was over he would be a ___ ___ (6,5).

-2.Lucy has left her home in Madagascar for the bright lights of the capital of Peru. Horace, in his London voice, let everyone know about the little lady's arrival "Ladies and gentlemen - the ___ ___ (4,5)."

-3.Maurice, the large deer from Canada, loves all sorts of sweet things: his absolute favourites are desserts made from cream, gelatine and eggs, often flavoured with chocolate. Horace mutters, "May I introduce the ___ ___ (6,5)?"

-4.Nancy peeps nervously round the door. She's a little confused because her initial letters don't match in the same way as other people's. It's the first time she's come by herself: she always used to be accompanied by her father, the old wildebeest. Naturally Horace notes the newcomer as the ___ ___ (3,3).

-5.Penny, the bamboo eating animal from China, prefers people to be properly pleased. Politely, in his best British accent, Horace presented her by pronouncing "The ___ ___ (6,5)."

6.Mollie is an analytical chemist who lives in a hole underground. Maybe Horace will mention that this mistress of mathematics is the ___ ___ (4,4). m--e m--e

-7.Guy is a primate with a penchant for underground warfare. Gutsily, Horace told the assembled guests about the grand entry of the ___ ___ (9,7).

-8.Yolanda is a long haired ox from Tibet, who loves to talk about anything and everything. Suppressing a yawn, Horace yelled, "You will like to meet the ___ ___ (3,3)!"

-9.Wendy is a most majestic mammal. Swimming solitarily in the sea for most of the time, she seldom meets her other friends. When she does, she gives them a long-winded account of all her worst woes. Wisely Horace whispered the welcome for the ___ ___ (4,5).

-10.Charlie, the fast cat, is cheerfully expecting to play lots of games; he loves winning and will do anything to make sure he doesn't lose. Horace, in his charming London accent, chatters away to the ___ ___ (7,7).

-11.Linda is a wildcat who loves playing golf, in fact she's rarely to be found away from her favourite course by the sea. Horace loudly proclaimed, "Lords and ladies, let's hear it for the ___
___ (5,4)!"

-12.Tommy is a big cat who lives in the north of Siberia. Horace, in London tones, told everybody about the arrival of the ___ ___ (5,5). t---a t---r

-13.Sally is a chilly mortal who lives in arctic waters, so she spent some time filling up all the gaps around the windows and doors to keep the draughts out. Horace said, "Here is the ___
___ (4,4)."

-14.Two more from the arctic regions are grizzly Barry who went overboard with shaving and lost all his fur, and Harry, who isn't a rabbit and lets his fur grow really long. Horace proclaimed, "Please welcome the rhyming pair, the ___ ___ (4,4) and ___ ___ (4,4)!"

-15.The big elephant, Jenny the jumbo jumbo, and her more fashionable friend, Hetty the hipper hippo, were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their pachyderm pals. Ronnie and Reggie often indulge in a spot of play-fighting with the result that they have some bent facial features because their horns get in the way. Jenny and Hetty were happy when they heard Horace roar "Ready, folks! Here are the ___ ___ ___ (3,4,6)."

Sometimes lost is where you need to be. Just because you don't know your direction doesn't mean you don't have one.
