Thank you very much for the review, flotsam. I had a feeling, after everything folks have said here about the game, that it would be a letdown in more ways than one, unfortunately.

And thank you too, Jenny.

Thank you flotsam. I'm sorry it wasn't the game we were all hoping for.
Thanks, Jenny!

Thank you, flotsam. I've been looking forward to your review and it seems to align with everything else I've read. Such a disappointment for all of us.

Thanks Jenny for the link & flotsam for the review! The continuation of the story of Kate Walker for me has gone completely in the wrong direction if there was to be any continuation of the 1st 2 Syberia games which in my mind concluded perfectly! So I'm not rushing to play this current offering if at all! smile

Thank you for the review, flotsam yes [ And thank you, too, Jenny100 smile ]

I was sorely disappointed with the second game in the series and now, having seen all the comments here at Gameboomers and read your review, I know I would be even more disappointed with this third offering.

I will not be making a purchase whistle

I must be in the minority but I'm loving this game. I think it's better than the other 2.

Certainly improved with the point and click version. Have also to admit that I have had to resort to walk-throughs at times.

Thanks Flotsam for this extremely well written review, and Jenny for the notification!

I really enjoyed reading it, even though I obviously wished such language could be devoted to a game worthier of it - the tinge of nostalgia and regret was palpable.

On the other hand, if Teassoc enjoyed it, it's always a good sign that opinions can differ, and there may still be plenty to enjoy on the plus side

Best,

Rich

This Game got off to a very bad start. I'm not going to cast blame because we don't really know who is responsible. Some poor decisions and what certainly appears to be a lack of testing. Maybe they now have an idea as to who are the Adventure Game Players. Switching it over to the mouse completely seems to be a pretty good indication of that. Now let's put all that aside. I enjoyed the game. I am playing it again in the completely mouse version. I am writing my version of a walkthrough. I would love to see more people give it a try and see what you think. If we snub it because of how it started we may never see another from the developers again. I look forward to more if I can just hang in there. You need to make up your own mind about this game and not be swayed by all of the previous negativity. If you can get a lower price for it go for it. You may really like it.

Take care my friends,

Mr. Bill

Sorry, but when a game is put on the market it has to be of merchantable quality exactly the same as any other product. If you buy a blouse or a shirt you don’t expect to have to sew every button on yourself. No, you take it back to the place of purchase and under UK law you can demand your money back in full.

If the game play is playable but doesn’t live up to our expectations, then yes it’s a risk that we all have to accept. But to place a product for sale when it must be very evident to the developers that it’s not ready is just not on.

If Syberia 4 ever comes on the market I’m afraid that many customers will be ultra careful of parting with their cash. The damage to an excellent adventure game has been done and it will undoubtedly affect any further sales.

So will I Cari (believe me I will never buy a DVD with nothing on it - that is no real game I can play from the DVD player while not online).

I feel for Benoit Sokal, He has given us wonderful games in the past and deserves a second chance. I doubt that this was all his fault. I was expressing my opinion as has everyone else. I believe that everyone needs to come up with there own opinion and its hard to have one if you don't experience it for yourself. People can make a wiser decision now that they know most of the circumstances. I was very negative at first, some of you know this.

Anyway I will go away now and be quiet. Just my opinion.

By the way - Nothing personal Flotsam.

Mr. Bill

I don't like the thought of no manual saves especially if there are so many bugs, but the worst part for me is the cliffhanger ending. Still, if/when the price comes down, I do plan to buy and play the game. At least I know what I'm getting into.

thanks Jenny and flotsam.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Don't know about the end as I am still some way away from finishing. Otherwise agree. They do need to allow manual saves.

Otherwise I think point and click has significantly improved things for those playing on a PC, like me.

Thanks for the review flotsam and Jenny. I have not personally played the game yet, but I've watched a full let's play on YouTube. The player was very entertaining, and I think he liked the story overall for the most part (with the exception of the ending), though he did not enjoy the game as a whole.

Maybe it's because I was only watching and not struggling with the controls myself, but I enjoyed the game well enough. It was not nearly on the level of the first two games. I liken it to Lost Horizon 2 in many ways - not on par with its predecessor(s) but an okay experience. I do intend to get it and play it myself eventually, but not until the price comes down considerably, by which time I will have forgotten most of the puzzle solutions anyway. lol I find it overpriced for what it is, but I do appreciate that some effort has been made to fix the controls.

I watched the videos with venus. I liked the game. Not as much as the first two, but it wasn't that bad.
