Stonewall Penitentiary Coming Winter 2017

You can download the demo here.

Quote:
July 13, 2017 - Stonewall Penitentiary, a mystery horror point-and-click adventure game, launches Winter 2017. An early demo is now available to play! The developer seeks player feedback via a short survey that opens upon the demo's conclusion.

Demo: https://unimatrixproductions.itch.io/stonewall-penitentiary

About
You wake up. The last thing you remember was lying in bed at home. But you aren't home anymore. Looking around, you quickly establish four things: you're in a prison; your clothes are missing; your hands are tied; and you can't remember how you got here.

So begins Stonewall Penitentiary, a gritty "whodunit" mystery horror adventure game by Unimatrix Productions®, the fourth in the Storycentric Worlds series. It features all the standard adventure game mechanics--exploration, player inventory, puzzle solving, and character interaction--and presents it in a unique format reminiscent of visual novels.

In Stonewall Penitentiary, you play the role of William Thane, a middle-aged man down on his luck. You, along with several others, are trapped in an abandoned prison, held captive by a sociopath obsessed with justice. Can you escape? Success lies in your hands!

Features
 EXPLORE an abandoned prison and uncover its dark secrets
 INTERACT with many interesting, fully-voiced characters
 SOLVE a multitude of challenging puzzles
 ENJOY hundreds of original images and an hour-long soundtrack
 DISCOVER three different endings, depending on your actions
 UNLOCK all the achievements to view a special post-game bonus scene
 EXPERIENCE a 10+ hour story that combines the horror of Saw and the mystery of Agatha Christie

Happy Gaming!

Hey GreyFuss! Just to warn you, it's not the original version but instead a remake in a more traditional adventure format. I look forward to your thoughts! smile

Thanks, BrownEyedTigre smile

Liking the look of this game, I downloaded the demo to my Win7 machine (something I very rarely do) but couldn't play it shocked

When I clicked on the launch icon, I immediately got a screen with Play, Quit, Etc options but the mouse didn't show properly.
It was OK on blank parts of the screen but it went "underneath" and was "hidden" by each option choice.

I did manage to make the "Quit" icon work, even with the mouse "hidden underneath it" but that was all that would work rolleyes

Has anyone else had problems ??

Oh no! That's not good, Mad! I am afraid that I haven't seen this particular issue before.

Did an image appear on the main title screen, or was it just a black window with the options visible?

When you unzipped the demo, did you retain the existing folder structure of everything? If not, that would explain the issue, as well. Essentially, there should be the base folder with "Stonewall Penitentiary.exe", and there should be several child folders, such as "images", "audio", and "voices". Are these there? If not, that may be the problem.

Hi CBSection31 smile And thanks for your quick response.

Anything I download automatically goes into a pre-existing folder called Downloads.
After I downloaded your demo to this Downloads folder, I copied the files (zipped as they were) and pasted the intact ZIP into a new folder I'd created, which I'd called Stonewall Demo, extracted the demo files inside there, then double clicked on the exe file.
[I've since deleted that folder.]

Just now, I tried again but this time I launched the demo directly from the download folder and this time it worked !! ( hamster )
So I was able to start playing.
However, I couldn't find any way of exiting the demo (I hadn't finished it) so called up Task Manager and got out that way.

I liked what I played and will certainly be interested in the full game !! thumbsup

Hi Mad, I'm glad you got it working! smile

When in the game, you can click on the little gear icon located in the lower-left corner of the screen and choose "Quit". This will take you back to the main menu to exit. The only time the gear icon is not visible is during cutscenes.

I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying it! smile

Hi Fellow Boomers,
I also downloaded this demo, extracted the files to a new folder, and I'm playing it now.
It looks great, sounds great, and I love it so far. I'll be the first on line to purchase the full version when Chris finally releases it. HAPPY GAMING!
