Aporia

a first look by flotsam

I think this is the earliest first look I've ever done (about 30 minutes in), but I have been looking forward to this so thought I would share. A nobody else solitary first person wander is right up my alley.

I have made my way out of the building I "awoke" in, and am wandering around some rather nice gardens. I have opened a number of doors, allowing access to other areas, all with the help of a cylinder I acquired before exiting the building. It is clearly important (perhaps even mystical), judging by the little animated story that played on the walls before I took it - or perhaps I overestimate its worth and it is really just an elaborate key.

Using it depletes its "energy", and I have found vials and other things which top it up.

I have just found an elevator of sorts, and have ascended to a terrace. I left a few skeletons behind.

You move with the W A S D keys and steer with the mouse. You have complete freedom of movement. Interact with left and right mouse clicks, and crouch and do other things with the keyboard. You can't map the keys, which was a bit of a surprise.

I cranked up the graphic detail to its highest and it does look a treat. It autosaves, but you can also save at will.

So far so satisfying.

Thanks, flotsam. [And Jenny100] smile

Sounds an interesting game. And if a release other than the one via Steam becomes available I reckon I could buy it grin

Did wonder about the "crouch and other things" though ??

Might this imply jumping and such like ??

The game did release today.

Thanks Flotsam but I would like to add that in my game I am able to program my mouse buttons with my programmable mouse. For me I only like to program the 'W' Key so I can move forward with a mouse button and steer by moving the mouse. The other things like crouch and run I don't mind using the Keyboard but I would imagine one could program those also with the multiple buttons that a programmable mouse has. I only just started and haven't made it out yet but so far I am liking it.

An update
Going down ladders is a pain which the makers acknowledge and are looking at patching. I recommend backing over the ledge and the grab hand should generate, stopping your fall.
I have had a crash or two, which is always annoying.
Like a good adventurer, if there is something to do I do it, but am not sure I see the value in depleting my light source lighting all the lanterns along the way. I stand to be corrected.

Loved the game. Highly recommended for those who love the First Person exploration games.

Yes, I lit every one I noticed and lighting one particular one did do something else. I think I had only ran out of my light source twice as there are plenty of refill bottles all over the place. I thought that lighting them may have a significance towards the end of the game but, except for the one, I don't think they were needed. I did find them useful so at least I knew that I may have passed that way before.
