The staff gets placed in the mausoleum or somewhere else?

I think I just said something misleading. The staff is not placed in the mausoleum *basement* - sorry. I should have qualified that. It looks like it is placed elsewhere in the mausoleum. My apologies.

The line regarding where to place the staff begins like this:

Go to the location right below the column on the top floor...

That is the starting point.

Marian, I swear to you, I tried every hole in that floor and some of them more than once because I did try to use that column as a reference but I didn't get anywhere, until this time! I think I did not have the sword in place when I placed the staff and it did not work placing the staff first and then the sword. I even thought of that at some point but did not feel like going back and retrying them again. hardwall (I had to reload a saved game each time as the shaft disappeared into the holes.)

Thank you once again for sticking with me here. Let's see if I can get any further. It is taking me a long time to play this game which is actually a testament to the game. The less I like a game the quicker I reach for the walkthrough so I can get it done with.

Ah, yes, presumably the game insists that you place the sword first. That explains a lot.

I am glad you are liking the game so far. Nothing wrong with taking it slowly - I see that's a good thing. smile

Yes, nothing wrong with taking it slowly, just all those other games to play (like Tex Murphy).

Also, just so you know, the shaft is placed in the mausoleum basement (right below the column which is upstairs).

Good to know - thank you for the information.

Try not to think about Tex until you finish Pilgrim. wink

I'm stuck again. I can't seem to move forward very far without getting stuck.

I have helped a young couple get rid of a spirit in their home and am now in a room with a bell rope, a stairway up to a platform where there is a circular plaque with many different pictures on it where I can put the Staff and position it at any of these pictures, and there is a room off to the side where I picked up a map painting and read a note left there. The door out of the room will not open.

I don't know any other way to describe this Marian. I am sorry. I do know that it is probably about halfway down the walkthrough because I did look at the walkthrough while dealing with the spirit.

I guess I have to do something with the staff and that circular plaque thing. I haven't got a clue.

This game is way too hard for me!!

lol blush

If you can hang in there until a little later, I am leaving for an appointment right now and won't be back for a few hours. Just wanted to let you know.

Meanwhile, maybe someone else will be able to help. wave

Not a problem Marian. I'm home this week and determined to finish this game (one way or the other)!

How nice to have a week off (I am assuming that's why you are home this week).

Looking over the walkthrough, it sounds like the first thing you need to figure out is where to place the map painting. smile

Thank you Marian. I found the wall for the painting. If there was a "action spot" on it, I missed it, but I tried it anyway. I have now moved out of there and am outside of some (something). I'll probably be back soon looking for more help.

woozy

Can you tell me the purpose of this maze I'm stuck in? Am I just looking for a way out or is there something else to it?

Thanks.

There is something that you must see/read while in the maze, and two or three things to click on. Someone also speaks to you while you are in there. So, it isn't just a matter of finding your way out.

Argh! Thanks. I checked it out and didn't see anything. I'll give it a more proper go but may need to use the wt for this one. Not sure if you could give hints for a maze.

Probably not, but I could go line by line with the walkthrough. Reading over it, it doesn't sound terribly convoluted, but the walkthrough has a map and it does look somewhat more complex.

I used the walkthrough but it didn't really seem to work for me. I eventually got it after clicking and clicking. The actual maze was a lot different than the map in the walkthrough.

Anyway, I am at the 3 Kings section now. I have talked to all 3 of them and taken all their stuff (peace, power, progress, glory, love, salvation, axe, staff, sword). The King of Lore wants me to kill his guard Weak; Weak wants me to give him power. The King of Strength wants me to kill his guard Pagan; Pagan wants me to give him salvation.

If I give the guards what they want, I get game over. If I give them something else, I get game over. When I give them what they want they bow their heads and it seems like I should do something else, but so far I haven't had much time once the cursor becomes available so I'm not sure if that's right or not.

When you get game over it brings you back to the beginning of the section. After listening to a rather long conversation, I can load my saved game but I'm getting tired of the repetition.

Anything you can tell me without giving me the full answer?

Each King has 2 gifts enclosed in glass and can be taken only by breaking the glass with weapons other than that king's.

Click to reveal..
You need to shoot one of the ghosts. Then you need to have a conversation.

Sorry - it's hard to be vague.

When they bend down and bow their heads, there is indeed something you are supposed to do. Thinking about knighting ceremonies might be helpful.

Wrote stuff and I guess I didn't hit submit.

What you're saying is what I thought. I had the cursor hovering over the staff one time waiting for it to become usable but when it did, it jerked itself over to the sword and then, game over. Thought I tried the staff more than once but maybe not. I was trying different things. I did figure out why the curser jerked anyway so I can avoid that in the future. (The item you click on them doesn't leave your bag until the curser becomes active again, thus causing the jerk.)

Not quite ready to play yet. Will let you know later... If my internet stays on. It went out last night right after I posted here. I just saw it go out again as I was typing. Hitting submit now while it looks to be connected.

Thanks.
