I've been stuck at the foot puzzle for a couple of days. I've entered the correct sequence of arrows to get the hook to come around and I've opened up the gates. But I can't get the button to turn green at either of the feet. The one will depress if I click on it, but the one on the pedestal just sits there and both lights stay red.

I've looked at a couple of video walkthroughs and used the in-game help. Neither one helped me at all! Did I miss something?

Did you see this thread on Steam? Not sure if that's the puzzle or not, but it sounds like it.

I hope you can get some help and that it doesn't turn out to be a glitch.

Hmmm... I also posted a question at Steam after doing a search for the foot puzzle. Wonder why this one didn't show up. I'm a bit concerned it's a glitch too. Thanks, Marian!

EDIT: Yup, it's a game glitch. When I press the foot, the light should turn green. I didn't use the links posted because they required me to register at something called ImageBannana.

Hopefully you will get a better answer to your problem either here or on Steam!

Already started a new game... *sigh* Reported it to the game developer. It appears others have had the same problem.

I hope it wasn't too far into the game.

Not too far at all - I caught back up in about an hour. Found something on Steam about not doing something called the light puzzle first. So that's what I did and the foot puzzle worked just fine!

I have a problem with the second ladder sticking up into the sky. How do I get down it. There's a sort of dustbin lid on top but I can't enter even though the cursor lights up. This is the second time I'm going down. The first time I had a similar difficulty but I kept clicking and sweeping and eventually it worked. Not this time though. Any ideas?

Hi meryl, hopefully someone who has played the game will be able to help you out.

There appears to be a video walkthrough on YouTube, which could be used if all else fails. smile

To get down any of the ladders, just click towards the bottom. The cursor will light up when you are in the place which will let you go down.

Are you talking about the screen where there are two ladders and there is a little round house and a clothesline? If so, you should have an item in your inventory to lift that lid. If not, you will need to go back a few screens to find it.

Oldbroad, I forgot to reply to your comment about them fixing that glitch. They actually DID fix it, but the version Big Fish is selling must not have it applied. That's why I now wish I had purchased the game from Steam... they automatically apply any fixes to your games. I will be getting the sequel from Steam.

Thank you Drac and Marian.
Oh dear. This is my second time of trying to go down that ladder(yes it's the one with the clothesline) I wonder if I used the item the first time and it's no longer in inventory.
I'll go back and see what I've got.

I get impatient with the youtube walkthroughs as you have to watch everything so i never use them. I like the printed text so one can just get help immediately on the one issue.

I may have to start again if I've bungled this. This is a hard game but brilliant.

You haven't bungled it at all!

Click to reveal..
Go back to the screen with the tower where the menu is. Look at the boat-like thing with a bunch of heads. There is an it there you need to open that lid.

I've found you can grab the progress bar on the Youtube videos and pull it along until you see what you need.

All is well. You know I have no recollection of obtaining and using that item first time around. But I have had a holiday since then before going back to the game.

It's me again.
I've clicked every pixel (it seems) on the scene with the tree women with the long neck and bubble balls for hair but i cannot find the leaf. I did the puzzle and got the next clue. The leaves are falling and I've tried catching one too.

Is it the case that i may find something later on that will help me find this leaf. Or are we supposed to find the leaves as we go along?

I tried youtube and am pretty sure that map showed a leaf outstanding before completion of the puzzle and none outstanding after completion. It didn't actually show the getting of the leaf unless it was so quick I missed it.

Have you tried using the "help" option in the game menu? Using the M key will bring up a map which shows you where each of the leaves is located.

There is a puzzle you will need to solve before you can get the leaf in this screen.

Thanks Drac
I've been such a clot. I've taken a cursory look at the help screen from time to time but just thought it was the original puzzle which I solved at the beginning.
On track now.

Finally got through this wonderful challenging game.
But I had to use the help cheat for the puzzle which has the black and white squares and the dials. After days of trying to figure out the logic of the palette I resorted to simply copying the in-game help sheet for the solution in order to move on.

Is there any way anyone can explain the logic of this puzzle to me without spoiling it for others? It's bugging me that i didn't understand it. Even with the solution in front of me I couldn't figure out how one would arrive at that.

You can pm or email me if you want.

Congratulations on finishing the game! I hope that someone will be able to explain the logic of that puzzle for you.

The sequel is now on Big Fish, by the way, just in case you are ready for more. wave

I agree that I liked the sequel even better... meryl, I've tried to find a puzzle with black and white squares and dials, but can't locate it. Where in the game is this puzzle?

I think it's towards the end of the game and also involves palettes?

Oh crumbs I can't remember - nearing the end in the fourth journey.

The palette has a clue which shows for example a black square and a white square then a sign like "greater than" or "lesser than" (I always get them muddled) then a black square.
There's a whole table like this showing a combination of black, white and grey/empty squares. There's also a series of dials with circles divided into two or three parts by lines at various angles.

You get the palette from one of the houses on stilts.

The puzzle itself has a series of divided circles but each associated with a different combination of fixed squares above the circles. The squares below the dials can be changed to combinations of black, white and grey/empty and the circles can be rotated so the dividing lines point in different directions.

Hope this helps to locate it but if not please don't worry further.

I think I can't find it because it's already been solved and I no longer have the palatte. I have a feeling it was one of those puzzles I did the same thing you did - solved it with the "help" and never really figured out the logic!

That makes me feel a whole lot better Drac.

Maybe one day we'll come across a posting in the BFG forum which explains the logic.

Appreciate very much your trying to help.
