Internet down time can be such a pain. We had to get someone over here emergently on Friday evening due to the same problem - fortunately things got fixed, at least so far. I hope it clears up for you.

Hi Marian,

I'm in Limbo trying to play Chess. I click the pawn (book) two times, then the rook two times and then am stuck. I am again getting tired of the repetition having to listen to this same conversation over and over. I'm still trying but have to step away from the game during the reload conversation.

I don't know anything about Chess. I don't know if I'm playing the game right but there doesn't seem to be very many options to it.

I don't know anything about chess either, and I suspect maybe you'll just need to know the moves. I know I wouldn't have the slightest clue what to do as a player. Having said that, here is the first line about the chess puzzle:

Quote:
Chess puzzle - to mate in two, click white pawn on blue book/manuscript on chest board. This brings the white pawn to bag.

There are three more moves after this.

And you are also getting pretty close to the end of the game - there appears to be one more sequence of the game after the chess puzzle.

This doesn't seem to be working for me. The white pawn IS the blue book. I have to click it two times for anything to happen and then it brings the white rook to the bag. I'm reloading again now and will try again but ... smashpc

Well, ok. What happens next after the white pawn is in the bag?

Next sentence of the WT is:

Move white pawn from black square to white square above it.

Sorry, I can't think of any way to be vague about this.

And the final two moves involve the white rook.

I know this is probably something I shouldn't have bothered you with and just looked at the walkthrough. It's just irking me though!!

And that is where I was before.

After moving the white pawn from the black square to the white square, I can click on the rook, but then I get stuck. I assume I AM supposed to click on the rook.

Yes, the white rook is next. The last two steps:

Click the white rook (St. James statue) to replace it. Click the white rook to move to last white square on the left.

thanks thanks thanks

I am sorry I made you write the lines out for me instead of just looking. I got it now. I could have had game over a zillion times before seeing that hot spot for the last move. Also, wasn't sure what to click, the piece on the board, in my inventory, or in my bag. Very confusing puzzle (to me).

I'll see if I can move forward. Getting tired though.

I can't even answer the first question. I tried using every item, person, and everything in my bag. None of them were the answer. Is that possible? I don't see anything else.

Tomorrow is another day. Maybe it will be more clear.

Well, I am puzzled, because looking the answers over, I don't see how anyone could necessarily come up with all of the correct responses without some sort of additional reference material.

I just took a look at a description of the game elsewhere online and it says the following:

Quote:
In addition there is a walkthrough on the first CD, which may be printed for easy reference. Plus there is a comprehensive built-in encyclopedia, which may be accessed at any time, to document and elaborate upon the historical facts relating to the game.

What I am wondering is if this encyclopedia might be useful for some of the answers.

The encyclopedia may be helpful if I could only bring myself to read it. I read some only. However, I still don't see how NONE of the available answers can be correct.

However, you don't get game over until the 3rd answer so maybe it is not just one answer but a combination of two or three. I am absolutely horrible at this kind of puzzle. I will try some more but because I cannot take much more of the reloading conversation, I will probably end up having to look at the walkthrough. It's a shame when this happens at the end of a game. If the 'game over' would bring me back directly to the puzzle I would not mind it.

We'll see if I can find some patience and figure it out.

I will, of course, let you know.

It has certainly been an interesting ride following along with this game. I would really like to think that this question-and-answer session is fair to the player, so I will be waiting to find out.

OMG Marian. I was clicking the answers on the wrong hotspot on Marc. There is a hotspot on his mouth and one on his chest.

I am not finished yet but have answered two questions (apparently) correctly so far. Fingers crossed!!

Getting frustrated again.

Have answered 5 questions without to much problem but have been stuck on this 6th one for a long time. Seems like I've tried every possible answer. duh

How many questions are there Marian?

It looks like there are nine questions in total with Marc.

After that, there are six questions from Petrus.

And then there is a shorter session with Belibaste.

Actually I'm on the 7th question not the 6th, so one better than I was thinking.

One more question. Do any of the answers get repeated?

Only in the first section with Marc are any of the answers repeated.

Thank you. I think that is why I haven't found the answer to number 7 yet. At least I hope that's why lol

That worked for 7, and 8 was easy enough but I've been stuck on 9 now for a few hours. I guess it's time to call it a night. Maybe the game won't be so stubborn tomorrow!!
