Well, I think I have done everthing right. I have gotten the piece from the lava pit. Went back to the train and finally made my way to Amanda. Turned the dial to allow steam into the pipe, now the good part, I don't seem to find a magnet of any kind. When I pull the lever and turn around nothing is there. Did I miss a step somewhere on rescuring her? I just don't seem to find a magnet. Can really use the help here. Thanks

Hi Carol,

You won't see the magnet till you get it moving. Its home position is just about over your head, out of sight.

The thing to do is make sure the control is active (has steam coming to it). Turn the valve wheel on the right and the gauge should rise, indicating pressure. Now moving the lever should move the magnet.

If the guage doesn't rise, it's back to the boiler room to turn on the valve back there.

The magnet hangs from overhead, similar to the one in Lyril's temple, but it is harder to see. Anyhow, you can't see it when you are pushing the button because it's behind you. Just press the button each time you hear another rock go in, and one of them will be metallic and be picked up.

You did turn the wheel on the right and see the gauge rise? (The wheel on the left controls a gate, not the magnet.)

Carol, we're grasping at straws here. If you have steam power to the control, it should be working.

First, forget about the umbrella and door. That was for the other control that raised the gate and only permitted you to see it; it did not stop anything from working. And I doubt timing is a factor here.

Also, the lava pit itself has no connection to this. The valves on the boiler might, though. If you turned off steam power to the rock crusher and conveyor, it might have disabled the magnetic hoist also. Tell me, is the conveyor and rock crusher still operating?

The rocks are moving on the conveyor belt. I'll try working on the timing more. It seems like everything should work, but again I've yet to see a magnet of any king. Gee I'm having fun trying to figure this one out (ha). I'll keep trying and see what happens. Thanks

OK, Carol, I think we've covered everything.

Turn the valve wheel on the right-hand pipe (as you face Amanda) so the gauge rises. Then click and drag the lever on the right toward you. When you do this, the view should change so you're looking to the right at the conveyor and the overhead magnet should travel toward the conveyor. I think you have to pull the lever a couple of times to get the magnet all the way to where you want it. (Pushing the lever will move the magnet the other direction.)

It's sometimes a tad tricky moving the controls in this game and that may be what's causing you woe. The lever operates in both directions so you must drag it in the direction you want. Hope this helps.
