And just now they announced that they are going to open the floodgates on the Houston Dam which will further flood the city. Necessary of course to prevent further disaster, but so sad. Who thought that a relatively dry climate state would endure this type of flooding? I'm always thinking about what I would do if my area flooded. I'm about 1 1/2 miles from San Diego Bay (the South end) and although my house sits on a rise and has a traditional foundation so I'm actually up about 3 feet above ground to reach my floor, my rentals, are 6 feet lower. One has flooded in the past and we cured that by digging a drainage ditch away from it to the empty back lot. Works fine, but in a REAL downpour, it could back up and flood.
I am continuing to pray for all the people in Texas and their families and their animals and all the rescue teams and good Samaritans.
