been playing this game for a few days, in story 2 went in to the orphanage and saved there .but now I can't get back in to the game > what do i have to do to get back in to the game ? i know that the disk has to be in. Does the game have an autosave? If it does, and your latest save is corrupt, that could keep the game from starting properly.

Antivirus can interfere with old games. You can try putting the game exe in the antivirus' "exceptions" list.
If you haven't been Running the game as Administrator, you should do that. This is different from being logged in as the Administrator. You have to right-click the game shortcut on the desktop (or the exe in the game folder) and choose Run As Administrator. I've had games that would not save at all unless I ran them "As Administrator" -- even a couple of hidden object games from Big Fish that other people apparently didn't have problems with.
If the game will not start any more, even after trying compatibility modes, running as Administrator, and adding its executable to your antivirus' exclusion list, it may have somehow damaged its files, and you may have to uninstall and reinstall to get it working.
Be sure to install to some place other than C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86). For example, you could install to your Documents folder, or some other folder that Windows doesn't consider "protected" -- for example you could create a C:\Games folder.
If you have problems installing, change the Setup file on the game disc to use compatibility mode before trying to install.
If it won't reinstall because the previous installation didn't uninstall properly, use ccleaner or Revo Uninstaller to clear out the remnants of the previous installation before attempting to reinstall again.
It's possible you'll have to run the game as Administrator too. In Windows 7 you right-click either the game shortcut on the desktop or the exe in the game folder, then choose Run As Administrator.
It's worth trying different compatibility modes set to different versions of Windows -- not just Windows 95 or 98/ME. I've had games for Windows 95 run better using Compatibility mode set to Windows 2000. Still Life required compatibility mode set to Windows NT -- if you set it to Windows 95 or 98/ME compatibility, it would start OK but would crash as soon as you tried to enter the building in the beginning of the game.
