Last night was the last night of the Proms in the UK. The festival of music starts in July and goes on for eight weeks. The last night is one time we Brits let our hair down and get really overly patriotic.
The Royal Albert Hall is the home of the proms but the last night is when all over Britain in their hundreds of thousands attend open air theatres and let their hair down.
While in the main the Proms cater for classical music there is no shortage of other music too. In August a British cast performed the all American classic Oklahoma
Wow!! That’s a gamble I thought, that musical is as much American as apple pie and to perform it on a cramped stage with little in the way of props and live so there’s no chance of editing out any errors, OMG.
Anyway I thought I’d post a few very short excerpts and see what our American friends thought.
