It may not be easy in that it may take quite a few steps, but I am pretty sure that there is a way. smile

I didn't give you a specific answer because I am not sure how the game works - but I am assuming that you can travel back and forth between different locations.

I was thinking there might be a map in the game that you can use to travel back and forth. If there is not, then unless the area is cut off and you can't go back again once you leave it, you should be okay. That would be poor game design if that were the case, as it would be so easy to miss something the first time through a particular area. If you can just go back there, then I would assume that restoring from a previous saved game point would be unnecessary.

I meant a map that you could access throughout the entire game - but looking over the walkthrough, it doesn't appear to be that way. There are maps scattered throughout the game, I can see that, but it may be that the maps are only available at each individual location.

There are those maps that you can print out from the walkthrough, though, and that's way better than nothing.

If you load up a previous saved game, you will have in inventory all the items you had up to that point. That is why if you do go that route, don't delete any of your most recent saved games, or you would have to re-do part of the game. I don't know how many saved games this game allows, but if possible, I would not delete any saved games you have already made, unless they were saves you made very early on in the game. If you just travel back to a previous area without loading up a previous save, you won't lose any items you have currently.

I played this a very long time ago and cannot actually help you, but I know you can go back to prior areas of the game. You just need to figure out how to get out of the location you are in and then where you need to go. Using a prior save will make you have to replay possibly a large portion of the game.

Thanks very much for your help, oldbroad. I figured you had to be able to go back to prior areas and that it was just a matter of figuring out how to get there. With a game this complex, I doubt that anyone would have played it otherwise. And thanks for confirming that there's no need to go back to a prior save.

According to the walkthrough, bell #3 is in Chichen Itza. Here is an excerpt from the Chichen Itza portion of the walkthrough:

Quote:
Chamber with Side Halls: The chamber has 2 side aisles. Forward and look at carving on side walls. Forward once again and turn left. At the middle of the left side aisle is an access underground.

Left Passage - Go forward into passage that goes down. At the very end of the passage, pick up Devil's triangle skull #1. Turn around and go forward 3xs.

Blowing Horns Secret Room - Look up and climb up to a secret room. The room has murals depicting men blowing horns. Go to left wall and look down at the plate. Pick up #3 bell. Go down the shaft and continue back up to the chamber.

Hopefully that will give you enough to go on to find it in the walkthrough.

According to UHS Hints, all 6 bells can be found in the underground passageways. Four of them are underwater near each other. The other two bells are in rooms connected to the underground passageways.

Thank you, oldbroad.

I am not all that great on providing help for this game - it's pretty much a case of the blind leading the blind, as the expression goes.

I used to play more adventure games but my time became more scarce over the years and so I switched to Big Fish HOPAs for the most part, where I could have frequent interruptions and it didn't matter as much as it would with a game that required more concentration. Thus, I have big gaps in terms of what adventure games I have and haven't played.

Someone who has played this game, oldbroad, said the following a few posts ago:

It sounds like a careful reading of the walkthrough should help you out here.

Take a look at the walkthrough, at the part where you are at right now, and figure out how to exit the area. wave

Aren't you in Chichen Itza now? Are you in the underground passageways?

I maybe shouldn't be poking my nose here since I don't really remember much of the game. Just trying to help if I can by looking at the walkthrough and UHS hints like you are Marian.

Does any of this sound familiar or help?:

I can't find six bells; where are they located?

All six bells can be found in the underground passageways.

Four of them are in fairly close proximity.

The four that are close together are all underwater.

They're all in the same pool of water.
How do I find the correct pool of water?
I've found the pool, but where exactly are those bells?

The final two bells are in rooms connected to the underground passageways, but not immediately apparent.

For one, you'll need to lift your sights.

It is connected to the left underground passageway, as you initially entered the main underground chamber.

Move up this passage until you reach the end, then slowly return, looking around as you do.

Pay particular attention to the ceiling.

You should find a passageway leading up to a new room. Look for the bell on the floor of this room.

The last bell is the most difficult to find, because it is in a room that is initially hidden and closed off from the remainder of the passageways.

You'll need to find its entrance, and figure out a way to open it up.

The entrance to this hidden passage is in the main underground chamber.
How do I open the hidden passage?

If you are still in the area where the bell puzzle is I THINK you have to find how to get out of there and then follow these instructions (from UHS Hints):

How do I find the underground passageways?

The underground passageways are not accessible from any of the principal structures around El Castillo.

You might want to take a stroll a little ways away from the crowd, and relax a bit.

Explore around the edge of the open area.

You should find a long open pathway leading directly away from El Castillo.

Go to the end of the pathway, and you will come to a low stone wall.

Explore this area.

It looks like you've found a Mayan cenote -- a water-filled limestone sinkhole.

Cenotes provided a stable water supply for the Mayan people -- and were often created by the erosion of ground over a cavern. Looks like there might be some serious underground caverns here, if we could only get down there to check.

But you won't be able to just climb down there.

Perhaps you could rappel down -- if you had a rope... and some way to anchor it.

Use the grappling hook on the pool side of the low stone wall. (You'll need to have your back to the pool at the time.)
Where can I find the grappling hook?

When it attaches, you will have a rope that you can climb down.

Look at the stone wall when you get to the bottom of the rope.

There is a small passage that you can climb into. This is the beginning of the underground passageways.

That's great news.

I thought you were using MaG's walkthrough; I would always choose that one first if there is more than one from which to choose. Glad you found that, as well as the saved game.
