Has anyone ever seen help of any kind for beating the monster in the sea battles ?? I really, really like the Risen series but the controls for the sea battles in this third release just have me beat. I find them absolutely unworkable

Mad, Lilimaus at Cheat Happens said this of the 3rd and final monster battle Turn on the minimap (i use compass normally) Decrease difficulty to easy (Just for this fight, i play hard otherwise)
Then i would wait in the middle with my ship and see from which direction the monster comes, so i could position my ship.
Then try to pepper it with full broad sides when it gets closer. I never use that stupid board canon.
Anyways, with a bit practise i managed to beat it fairly easy like this, after being beat up 3-4 times before when i tried to "hunt" it down. Which fight are you on?

Thanks for responding, looney4labs !! I'm not on any of the three battles at the moment because after days and days of not being able to even manoeuvre the ship into the right position in time to fire at the monster (let alone kill it !!) I had to give up. And that WAS on the "easy" setting. Eventually, to save my sanity, I uninstalled the game. [Temporarily, I was hoping at the time. Thinking a patch or something might be forthcoming down the line ] But if I could find a way to deal with the manoeuvring problem, I would have no hesitation at all in re-loading the game and playing it again because I absolutely loved it up to the "sea battles" point But I guess it's just wishful thinking

I found this on Steam: It took me forever to figure out that you could also get the ship to go forward/back, since the upper left tip only showed going left/right. Once I figured out you could get the ship to go right up to the monster it was a rapid piece of cake. Prior to that I was lobbing cannonballs that never hit it. Just on the off chance that this helps...

Thanks, Marian. I've saved a copy of that tip !! I've also now found a trainer that includes "ship health" amongst its attributes and Norton has passed the trainer as "safe". So, I might just fire up the game again and see if the trainer works with my version of the game. Worth a try, I reckon What can go wrong - apart from my computer blowing up ??

Yes. Of course I will let you know But even if this trainer IS compatible with my version of Risen III, the sea battles don't occur until a long way into the game (probably two thirds in) and as I take weeks, if not months, to get through an RPG, we could be talking about next year before I reach that point Anyway, I'll try and make time over the weekend to install the game and see if the trainer is actually suitable

Well, as far as the sea battles are concerned (when I get to them) I can't improve my chances from when I played last year - unless I can find out how to get closer to the monster (as per the tip you found, Marian) - because I have spent hours and hours today fruitlessly trying out trainers .... none of which, it turns out, I can use The only one which will work with my game is an oldie from 2014 - and even to get that working I have to temporarily disable Norton. [Once in the game with the trainer running I can re-enable Norton so that's not too bad. I can live with that ] Every other trainer I've tried - and there have been MANY - was immediately & totally removed by Norton. No way could I persuade it to accept any of them !! But having played the opening scenes of this game I am once again hooked so will now have to discipline myself and finish the other games I have on the go before I allow myself the indulgence
