Slasher is a Canadian TV series. Netflx was pushing the second season (which all the reviews said is bad) but I started with the first.

Its like Scream except more adults less teenagers, at least in the first episode.

Halloween 1988, Bryan and Rachel are murdered. Rachel was pregnant at the time, and the murderer is found by the police sitting in a rocking chair with the new born. Jump to the present, Sarah Bennett and her husband Dylan move to the town of Sarah's birth. Everybody knows who she is. When a neighbor is brutally murdered, Sarah sees the killer, someone dressed up as The Executioner, just like her parents murderer. In prison, the original murderer tells Sarah the neighbor was killed for her sins so to catch this new killer, she will have to find out what they are.

Suspects after 1 episode: Dylan, although I have not motive for him. except the neighbor annoyed his wife. The local lawman or his father the preacher, because either could be a nut who thinks they're giving sinners their just punishments.

I'm not interested in the slashing, which is gross and over the top. But the mystery of who is doing this and why does interest me.

Looks like 6 cast members appear as different characters in both seasons. None of them are the main characters in season 1.

Season 1 The Executioner has interesting subtitles. I suspect they're supposed to sound Biblical given the punishing sins theme but only one actually is
Episode 1: "An Eye for an Eye" (Leviticus 24:19–21)
Episode 2: "Digging Your Grave With Your Teeth"
Episode 3: "Like as Fire Eateth Up and Burneth Wood"
Episode 4: "As Water is Corrupted Unless It Moves"
Episode 5: "Ill-Gotten Gains"
Episode 6: "The One Who Sows His Own Flesh"
Episode 7: "In the Pride of His Face"
Episode 8: "Soon Your Own Eyes Will See"

Nothing this show says about the Bible is right. The original Executioner keeps claiming something is a death penalty sin in the Bible when it isn't and than give some horrible torturous form of execution for it. Gluttony is not a death penalty crime. Murder and rape are death penalty offenses in the Old Testament not over eating. There is no punishment for greed in the Bible, there is a punishment for theft, but its not death or chopping off a hand, its paying back double the value of what you stole.

Season 2: Guilty Party
Episode 1: "Six Feet Under"
Episode 2: "Between Good and Evil"
Episode 3: "Saint Sebastian"
Episode 4: "Night of Hunters"
Episode 5: "Out of the Frying Pan"
Episode 6: "Drone"
Episode 7: "Dawn of the Dead"
Episode 8: "The Past is Never Dead"

The opening credits remind me of "American Horror Story"

I may change my mind later but for now I think The Executioner is Dylan. Motive: creating a news story to further his career.

Supposedly the victims are being killed for committing the "7 deadly sins" (which are not actually Biblical sins nor death penalty crimes). Despite what characters are claiming none of this is Biblical.

As of episode 5 the following people have been murdered:
Click to reveal..

Sarah's neighbor who annoyed her - wrath
Sarah's landlord (her business) - gluttony
Sarah's grandmother - envy
a man who ran Sarah and her grandmother off the road - sloth
a woman who accused Sarah of having an affair with her husband (not true) - sloth again?
Sarah's husband's boss - greed

a teenage boy who threatened Sarah and Dylan was nearly killed but survived

Sensing a pattern here.

Every victim has a deep dark secret the problem is they don't actually fit the supposed sin they were killed for. The killer murders a homosexual man not for sexual sin but for "gluttony". The man's deep dark secret is his business practices while not illegal or of questionable ethics and one of his deals lead to the tragic death of entire family yet he's supposedly killed for over eating. He was also a drug addict. Two paramedics who after a long shift ignored a drunk teenager who never made it home and has been missing for years were supposedly killed for "sloth". They weren't laszy they were just tired. They also had an affair but the woman who was married wasn't killed for adultery, an actually Biblical sin. So far the only one that fits is the woman who murdered her unfaithful husband and was killed for the sin of "wrath". Again adultery is ignored.

I guess lust and pride are left. And I know who lust is going to be.

If Dylan isn't the killer he's going to be the last victim, for the sin of pride.

Maybe they are trying to point out that we are all complex people or maybe it's just film makers trying to keep you guessing. One can never tell. wavegirl

At this point I don't know what Dylan's deep dark secret is. Unless of course its that he's The Executioner. He's my prime suspect. Secondary suspect, Cam Henry the cop. All this seven deadly sins stuff
Click to reveal..
could be an attempt to deflect suspicion of him for the murder of his wife and her lover by making it appear a crazed serial killer is at work instead of just a jealous angry husband wanting his unfaithful wife dead.

Episode 6:
Click to reveal..
The local police chief kidnapped the missing girl and repeatedly rapted her resulting in a boy being born. The Executioner kills the police chief for the sin of lust.

Episode 7: Now isn't this interesting. Why Saraha's parents were killed is revealed. Sarah has learned Dyalan's secret. All 7 "sinners" have been killed and the audience knows who the Executioner is. But there is still one more episode to go.

Click to reveal..

Dylan's secret. he was interested in the original murders for years and has a web site all about it. Sarah assumes she married her because she's the victims's daughter not because he loves her.

Sarah's parents were murdered because her mother seduced the local preacher who was trying to clean up the pornography in town and she and her husband were the ones making it. She seduced the man and her husband secretly filmed their night together. They than tried to blackmail him. He went nuts and killed them. Before she died she told her killer that he was actually the babies father, so he spared the child.

The last victim is Sarah's biological father, the original Executioner who escaped because he knew who the new Executioner was, the new preacher's son, and wanted to save Sarah.

The Executioner is Cham who is seen at the end of episode 7 looking at his trophies after his father says "its over, this town has been cleansed". So Cham really is nuts. killing his unfaithful wife and her lover was just a bonus.

Episode 8: Naturally the story started on Halloween so it has to end on Halloween.
Click to reveal..
Flash back: Cham has always been a psychopath. as a boy he pushed his mother down the stairs killing her. And his father apparently covered up the fact it was murder.
Cham is showing his infatuation with Sarah. Sarah's surviving landlord decides to have a Halloween party even though last year his "husband" was murdered during their party. He expects Sarah to be there, because its also her birthday.
Click to reveal..
Cham's father apparently does not know his son is the Executioner because he tried to talk to Cham about how he must still be grieving the death of his wife. Cham's response was "that was 3 month's ago". His father doesn't like that Cham seems to be interested in Saraha, a married woman. Cham's response was to knock his father down and to mock him for his visting a domimatrix

Cham's father suddenly realize the awful truth. He goes looking and finds Cam's trophies of his kills. When he confronts Cham , Cham strangles him to death, crying and saying "no one else had to die". Then he plants his trophy box in Dyalan's things so Sarah would find them and call him so he can arrest Dylan for being the Executioner. Cham and Sarah have sex,

Cham interrogates Daylan who of course does not confess, being innocent. Sarah looking throw an old yearbook finds a photo of younger Cham holding up a drawing which she realizes matches the drawings found in The Executioner's lair. Sarah is allowed to visit Dylan (yeah right). She tells him Cham is trying to frame him. He says get a lawyer and report Cham to another law enforcement agency but of course Sarah decides to take care of everything herself. She goes to Cham's home and fortunantly does not find him but does find blood soaked sinks and a severed hand. She calls 911 but then hangsup. She pickes up a bloody knife and walks off.

Sarah lures Cham out of the Halloween party to stab him in the stomach, which just makes him angry. He pulls out the knife and when the host appears stabs him in the chest. That will teach him to make a toast mocking death. Cham then slices Sarah in the arm. They both run off.

A pirate claiming to be a lawyer shows up the police station waves a piece of paper around and the young police officer just stands there as Daylan and the lawyer walk away.

Sarah runs home with Cham following. She locks the door and calls 911 saying "The Executioner is trying to kill me". Cham breaks the door in. Sarah runs up the stairs. Dylan arrives and loses a fight with the wounded Cham who stabs Sarah in the throat. Instead of finishing her off, Cham starts reminiscing about how they first met, which gives her time to grab an ern and hit him with it. She then picks up his knife. Dyaln recovers and hols Cham so Sarah can murder him. The police arrive. But seeing their chiefl being murdered by a crazy woman with a knife they just stand there instead of shooting her, which in reality is what would happen.

4 weeks later: Dylan ans Sarah are leaving town.[
Their releastate agent who should be dead but isn't is showing the house to a famly. The girl hears a cat, she finds it and kills it. And the going inside when asked if she likes the house she says "Yes its perfect".
