I've been reading a few game credits. I notice that the BFG credits come first and include a credit for narrative design. Does that mean that BFG's narrative designer designs games or is the position more like that of someone in charge of continuity? Do established developers produce sample parts of a particular game along with one of those flow charts on the game itself prior to production? In short, how does the whole thing work?

Can anyone point me to information on these subjects?

Here's an article from a Big Fish Games blog which should be of interest to you.

An interesting read, Marian. I think we often take for granted all the work that goes into producing these games. Takes a lot of different kinds of talent.
